Bio

Initially shocking because of her striking appearance, she has an ability to make characters come alive that is informed by her work as a model, singer, actor and poet. UK-based, this Jamaican-American storyteller has performed at venues including London’s Soho Theatre and Lyric Theatre, also delivering her one-woman show of narrative and song to diverse audiences to around the UK. She frequently brings the bluesy and thought-provoking sounds of her live poetry-jazz improv, backed by a full band, to festivals and private galleries across Europe, recently being awarded a Residency at Ace Arts Centre in Biarritz.

A self-taught ethnomusicologist, Lisa is planning an investigatory musical travelogue in order to research the artistic legacy of the original Arawak people of Jamaica, part of her heritage. At the same time, she is equally fascinated by culture-blurring, post-modern sound experiments that push boundaries, incorporating influences from artists as different as Laurie Anderson and Gil Scott-Heron, from Meshell Ndegeocello to Henry Mancini.

Lisa Lore has collaborated with notable artists including Los Chicharrons, Gabin,
Linkwood, Drax & Gooding, Edison, 37th State (Dele Sosimi), Art Terry, etc.; and has been profiled on Resonance FM-Is Black Music radio show, DIESEL:UMUSIC radio show and in Sunday Times Style magazine, Hot Tickets, Evening Standard, Attitude, The Guardian Guide, Metro, among others.

As a musician, Lisa Lore she uses her theatre training to inhabit each song with emotional depth. She calls it the “Nu Bluz Aesthete”: beauty and rawness with a sensual, sometimes provocative edge.
