"Liz Phair"

"...It was basically she who taught me to love singing! Her confidence and faith have never come across more clearly than in this new cd and I hope her thoughtful and soul-searching journey is as inspiring to you as it is to me..." - Acclaimed Artist

"Lisa Belkin"

"Listening to Hancock Place is like listening to Lisa Lynne read my mind and put it to music. It's a soundtrack for every harried woman's life, a best girlfriend telling you it will all be okay. I dont know how she crawled into my head and saw what I've been thinking, but she has, and she is most welcome there, because her album is both affirmation and antidote to the stress and worries of the day. And she manages to do it with such grace and warmth that I dont even resent that she's so maddeningly gorgeous." - NY Times and XM radio

"The Rivertowns Enterprise"

“Mathis… is an intriguing combination of the glamorous, the down-to-earth, the passionate and the spiritual.” - Songwriter's Voice A Vortex on Hancock Place

LISA LYNNE MATHIS

Known for her rich, penetrating alto and soul-searching lyrics, singer-songwriter Lisa Lynne Mathis brings a timely perspective to popular music. A student of the human condition, Lisa Lynne sings about the challenges, joys and complexities of life that we all face. Whether navigating the bonds of family or the tests of faith in a troubled world, Lisa Lynne articulates our innermost hopes, fears and questions.

Diverse musical influences can be heard throughout her first full length solo CD, Hancock Place (Garagista, 2007). Her upbeat pop songs and emotional ballads are full of great hooks and rich harmonies, and they are infused with everything from gospel choirs to jazz solos to a Dixieland band. Lisa Lynne’s sound has been compared to some of her own musical inspirations, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos and Marc Cohn.

Recently, Lisa Lynne opened for Grammy-winner Paula Cole at the Tarrytown Music Hall, and performed at the Closing Ceremonies for the U.S. Transplant Games in Pittsburgh, where her inspirational song The Greatest Embrace touched the lives of thousands in attendance, including donor recipients and families of donors. Lisa Lynne’s music has been showcased regularly in concert at the Irvington (NY) Town Hall Theater, performing with Grammy-winning guitarist Jay Azzolina (Spyro Gyra), saxophonist Tim Ries (Rolling Stones) and Tony and Grammy-nominated singer and arranger Michael McElroy (Broadway Inspirational Voices). Also, Lisa Lynne was a featured guest at composer Scott Freiman’s 2005 Carnegie Hall concert, where she performed her original music with full string orchestra. Other recent collaborators include percussionist Jonathan Peretz, bassist Mark Peterson and Grammy-winning Sony artist/arranger Nedra Olds-Neal, who directed Lisa Lynne in the elite Inspirational Choir at renowned Riverside Church in New York.

Lisa Lynne has been honing her craft by performing in many different musical genres and venues. She sang as a soloist and member of some of the finest music groups in the world, from Chicago’s elite vocal ensembles Bella Voce, The William Ferris Chorale and the Grant Park Symphony Chorus, to major choirs in New York and the Netherlands. Switching gears, Lisa Lynne sang backup for (and coached) rocker Liz Phair on Lillith Fair, Showtime Television, and Late Night with David Letterman. With the world renowned Broadway Inspirational Voices in New York, she has performed for Brian Stokes Mitchell’s Carnegie Hall debut, appeared on NBC’s Today Show and sung in Broadway’s Town Hall and New Amsterdam Theatre, where she appeared before Barack Obama.

She has performed her music for standing room only crowds at the Riverside Church, where she appeared with the choir before Bill and Hillary Clinton and can still be heard on Wednesday nights singing with acclaimed gospel group, VOCE. Lisa Lynne can also be heard regularly on Saturday nights as the Music Director of Presence in White Plains, NY. Lisa Lynne Mathis lives in New York with her husband and two young daughters.
