Lisa Malone

 Huntsville, Alabama, USA
BandPopAdult Contemporary

Lisa's original music is intensely personal, with poetic and evocative lyrics. She likes to paint a picture with her songs, of places, feelings, experiences. She performs solo, but strongly prefers performing with another singer because she loves to mix harmonies into her music.

Biography

Lisa grew up in Huntsville, AL. She has always had a passion for music and for expressing herself through the written word. Her poetry and short stories have been published in literary magazines. Over the years she has lived in Tuscon, outside of Los Angeles, and in Nashville.

Lisa likes and has been influenced by a wide variety of musical genres. When she writes, the words come first and the music flows from the words. She does not strive to write a certain 'type' of song or a certain genre but rather chooses an organic approach that lets the song grow and choose its own voice.

Currently residing back in Huntsville, Lisa performs either solo or with others. She has played in bands from time to time but strongly prefers the intimacy of acoustic music. She and her husband are planning to relocate permanently to the Seagrove Beach, FL area within the next four years, where she will continue to write and perform and collaborate with other local musicians.

Coming Home

Written By: Lisa Malone

Meet me at Inlet when the afternoon’s on fire
Barefoot by the grassy dunes you’ll find me waiting there
Take my hand while seabirds dance and waves sing like a choir
My dress as white as sugar sand and flowers in my hair

Meet me in Seaside with a cup of Amavida
To walk along the shoreline and greet the morning sun
We’ll spend the day together amidst the children’s laughter
And listen to the bell ring when the summer day is done

Oooh, the ocean calls me home
Ooooh, I’m coming home

Meet me in Rosemary when the butterflies are dancing
Follow me to Seagrove, down the boardwalk to the sea
In Watercolor dressed in lights, the snowflakes drift around us
We share a silent, holy night beneath a starlit tree

Oooh, the ocean calls me home
Ooooh, I’m coming home

Meet me in Grayton in the stillness of the winter
In the jazz and candlelight you’ll find me waiting there
Take my hand and lead me past the Red bar through the live oaks
The dunes like drifts of snow reflect the silver in my hair

Oooh, the ocean calls me home
Ooooh, I’m coming home

Oooh, the ocean calls me home
Ooooh, I’m coming home

Eludes Me (see video)

Written By: Lisa Malone

Never saw it coming, did you?
I still remember the love we knew
When in our hearts the other was the most important thing
You looked at me with wonder, and my heart would sing

But it's buried now, beneath a thousand memories
Though I try to hard to reach it, it eludes me

But I still can't breathe when I see you
And I still can't wait to be near you
You are still the world to me, like I thought I'd always be
But I'm just an old mistake you're tired of making

Never saw it ending today
Thought I completed you in every way
But despite my best intentions you've become and empty shell
Though I try so hard to fight it and you hide it well

But it's buried now, beneath a thousand memories
Though I try to hard to reach you, it eludes me

But I still can't breathe when I see you
And I still can't wait to be near you
You are still the world to me, like I thought I'd always be
But I'm just an old mistake you're tired of making

I remember when we knew that our love would never end
And I can't convince my heart of what my eyes can see
And I know that if I love you I should turn and walk away
But surrendering the dream of you eludes me

Because I still can't breathe when I see you
And I still can't wait to be near you
You are still the world to me, like I thought I'd always be
I just can't be a mistake you're tired of making
That you're tired of making
