Biography

Lisa Marie Johnston, "LMJ," is a singer/songwriter who wonderfully blends country, americana, and blues into a unique style she calls "Stomp and Groove."  Her acoustic driven stylings like The Long Goodbye, Battle Wounds, and Fly are soulful and infectious.  She can also lead with a rock'n vibe and bring the room to its feet with songs like Against the Wall and I Will Find My Way.

Lisa grew up singing and writing songs since the age of seven.  At age 18, she began studying music and performing around California's Bay Area where she is developing a steadfast following.  Her arrangements leave few stones unturned and include a great mix of guitars, strings, horns, piano, organ, bass, drums, and of course, her voice!

LMJ released her first EP, This is Me, in 2011, and then her first full-length record, Special Projects, in 2012 under her own label, "Stomp and Groove."  Most recent, in 2013, Lisa collaborated with Producer/Engineer Reto Peter, to mix and master her second EP, The Reto Sessions, featuring an accomplished group of local Northern California musicians.

In 2015, LMJ self-released yet another collection of original tunes via her latest EP TIME FLIES BY.  The title track features Lukas Nelson and the collection was mixed and mastered by Matt Winegar.

Lisa continues to develop her professional music career and her unique style by splitting time between San Francisco, New York, and New Orleans at local venues in each.  Have a listen!
