"Lisa is a phenomenal artist..."

“Lisa is a phenomenal artist...and Iím taking her under my wing.” - Lucinda Williams, Grammy winning singer-songwriter
- Quote from Lucinda Williams

"A charming poetic flair and smoky soulful voice"

“[Sanders] boasts a charming poetic flair and smoky soulful voice that you will want to listen to for hours...If you test only one brand new artist this week, make it Sanders.” - Billboard Magazine

"Best Pop Concerts of 1999"

Dixie Chicks, Cibbo Mato, Beth Orton, Sheryl Crow, Lisa Sanders Lilith Fair, Coors Amphitheatre, July 16 - Best Pop Concerts of 1999 - George Varga -San Diego UnionTribune

"Such soulful graceful music"

“The singer-songwriter’s sonorous voice flows straight from the heart, coloring and shaping her melodies with such soulful graceful music before the lyrics even register.” - Taylor Guitars

"A rare and unexpected intimacy and vitality"

“When Lisa Sanders takes the stage everything drops away, leaving a rare and unexpected intimacy and vitality. There’s a reason Lisa is everybody’s favorite singer. Her startling honesty cuts through the practiced artifice of so much pop music today, reminding us all what real music is supposed to sound like.” - Peter Bolland, Professor of Philosophy, Southwestern College

"A musical diva"

“Lisa Sanders is a musical diva – she’s got the voice, the talent and the songwriting chops to qualify.... Channeling the vocal strength of Chaka Khan and the dusty edge of Bonnie Raitt, Lisa belts out songs filled with world-weary experience and hope. She entices her audiences by weaving her artfelt lyrics and catchy melodies, then adds a stylistic purity that is so rarely found in pop music today.” - Siren Magazine

"A rich queenly voice"

"Sanders has a rich, queenly voice that's pristine enough to turn heads and save souls." - GoGirlsMusic.com January 2001

Bio

Born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and raised in a small Southern California town, Lisa Sanders has learned to push her musical boundaries to places that are almost never explored by Afro-American women. And she does it with such confidence, with an inherent ability to make even unwilling listeners to stop dead in their tracks and ask, "Who is that woman singing? And where does she get her voice?"

Lisa Sanders sings with such conviction as to make the hair stand up on the listener's arms. With a voice so penetrating it brings tears to grown men's eyes. An amazing presence and sultry charm, Lisa Sanders delivers.

Third place winner of the 2008 Telluride Troubador competition, two time award winner for San Diego Acoustic Artist of the Year and the Reader Magazine's Best Acoustic Artist, Lisa has opened for such artists as Lucinda Williams, BB King, Bob Dylan, Al Green, Stevie Nicks, James Taylor, David Wilcox, Louden Wainwright III, Babyface and Sophie B. Hawkins. Sanders also performed at the Lillith Fair with Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks to name a few.

With five CDs to her name including her latest, Last Night in Roseburg, a deeper exploration into Lisa's self described style of "black cowgirl country/pop," a roots/rock, blues oriented, pop CD that pushes mainstream pop to new heights. Lisa Sanders looks forward to a long career in music with touring and writing at the forefront.
