Angels

Verse
You say you’re bent on suffering, did I learn that in school
I’m a glutton for punishment, did they teach that to you
I say there were no bad schools, I made up my own rules
There were angels, watching over me

Verse
I drink beer in the morning to start my day
My sister comes around, says that’s not ok
I tell her no worries here, you’ve got nothing to fear
There are angels, watching over me

Chorus
And I say, their heartbreaks, to tear me apart
And I try, have a good life, do the best that I can
Cause there’s angels, watching over me

Verse
My friend Andi is in the fight for her life
She says, that’s ok cause God made it right
She says, I’ve got nothing but time
Tell me what’s on your mind
There are angels, watching over me

Chorus
And I say, with such good friends
How could I go wrong
And there’s no crying, this life stuff
Could rip us apart
But there’s angels, watching over me

Verse
Time goes on, and on, and so do I
Push a little harder, so I can retire
Sometimes I’ve changed jobs, to stay ahead of the line
Cause there’s angels, watching over me

Chorus
Sometimes, get bogged down, cartin’ kids around
And sometimes, to make ends meet, nothing goes right
But there’s angels, watching over me
And there are angels, watching over you

My Mind

I've never seen you dance before
No smokey club, no ballroom floor
But in my mind
I see the way the music makes your body sway

I've never waltzed you close to me
No country band, no symphony
But in my mind
We glide and float suspended by each lovely note

When my mind takes a holiday
Reason or rhyme won't have a word to say
Because my mind's the only place I'll have you anyway

I've never kissed your honey lips
Caressed you with my fingertips
But in my mind
I've played your skin as if it were a violin

We've never shared a lover's bed
One pillow underneath our heads
But in my mind
We're wide awake and cheek to cheek until daybreak

When my mind takes a holiday
Reason or rhyme won't have a word to say
Because my mind's the only place I'll have you anyway

My mind's my favorite place to play
Because in my mind you're with me every day
Only in my own mind
Oooooh oooooh oooooh oooooh oooooh oooooh oooooh

Blind To You Baby

Verse
If you notice my eyes closed
Hides the little things I feel in my soul
And all your hurting ways
Well I turn my head
Nothing like taking the long way home

Chorus
I’m blind to you baby
I’m blind to you baby
A little bit tired
But I’m not afraid

Verse
In the kitchen the light is on
To pass the time I turn the radio on
You call me up on the telephone
Few hours later you’ll be on your way home

Chorus

Bridge
Cause when you tell me
I am never alone
And then you kiss me
And all my troubles are gone
Cause with my eyes closed
You can do nothing wrong

Chorus
Cause I’m blind to you baby
I’m blind to you baby
A little bit tired
But I’m not afraid
