"A band to keep your ears on"

"Rave reviews are streaming in for this Detroit quartet's smash-up of shiny power pop and grimy post-punk. A band to keep your ears on."
- Detroit Free Press

"Recommended and then some!"

"My fingers are crossed that LISBOA somehow sparks off a trend of smart, well-written, catchy, dirty guitar-pop in the Detroit music scene. I simply cannot find enough good things to say about this CD. Don't let this be the best release you haven't heard this year - recommended, and then some." - Delusions of Adequacy

"Bound to blow a lot of stuff right off your stereo"

"... I'll be damned if listening to Lisboa isn't my idea of fun. ... their record just drips with fun, which is pretty much the first and last thing that I look for in a great punk rock record. ... way, way above par. I encourage you to check this record out because it's bound to blow a lot of stuff right off of your stereo."
- Deep Fry Bonanza

"Hella potential"

"Simply put, Lisboa is a band with a keen sensibility for laying down catchy pop hooks in a heavier context. These guys have hella potential, so get this bad boy [Either Origami] before the majors re-release it."
- Real Detroit Weekly

Bio

LISBOA play gutsy rock that pops with abandon, wedding the wry bombast of GUIDED BY VOICES to the boozy urgency of THE REPLACEMENTS. This is stadium music played in basements by a band with the good sense to push all the right buttons and all the right boundaries. Led by singer/songwriter Joe Lisboa, a philosopher-by-day with a gift for wordplay and a knack for the pop hook, LISBOA have played on the VANS WARPED TOUR and have shared the stage with everyone from HOT HOT HEAT and the WEAKERTHANS to ELEFANT and the FLASHING LIGHTS.

The new year finds the boys with a holster full of critically-acclaimed (and self-recorded and produced) EPs, splits, and singles, and a much-anticipated full-length CD on the way. So let the self-styled pundits debate the long-ballyhooed rock revival: bands like LISBOA are living, sweating proof that indie rock & roll is as relevant - and as revelatory - as it ever was.
