Lisbonne described her music as a “love of sixties girl groups” mixed with “nineties sonic vibes.” Sounds a bit like Best Coast in theory, huh? Well, it doesn’t actually sound much like Best Coast in practice. Lisbonne is much more of a bedroom project that retains the sensitivity that Best Coast long ago swapped for a raw guitar sound. - youaintnopicasso

Bio
Lisbonne is the musical alias of French singer songwriter Marie Merlet. After touring the world playing in Laetitia Sadier’s band Monade, Merlet started writing and producing her own music in London under the moniker “Lisbonne”, a reference to the teenage sisters of Virgin Suicides, melancholia and coming of age stories being recurring themes in Merlet’s songs.
The girl combines treasured influences ranging from early France Gall, to The Beach Boys, Young Marble Giants and The Breeders. Her tunes merge a love for sixties girl groups with nineties sonic vibes and Balearic overtones. She likes to use vintage drum machines and analog reverbs in the studio and on stage and is joined by other multi-instrumentalist Matthieu Beck during live performances.
