Bio
Littleboy is a solo project by ex Driving By Night front man Neal Hughes. Currently recording his debut album, ‘Man Called Horse’ which is being produced by Portland, Oregon native Barrett Lachy.
Neal first came to prominence on in the earlier noughties as leader of hotly tipped Northern Irish band Tyler and subsequently signed a publishing deal with BMG Music. Following the demise of Tyler he went on to form Driving By Night another band who appeared to be destined for greatness following a hugely successful trip to the South By South West Festival in Austin Texas.
When Driving By Night disbanded Neal went off and started writing his solo album and was quite content to fly under the radar until legendary record producer Steve Lilywhite heard one of Neal’s tracks, ‘Burn Down Love’. Lilywhite praised Neals solo work stating ‘’He has a wonderful voice with a precious feeling for song writing’’.
Brian Convey a producer at BBC Radio Ulster also heaped praise on Neal when he voiced his opinion on another album track ‘Curses’, when he said, ‘‘’Curses’ by Littleboy is a mixture of Beck and Phil Lynott, quite unusual. The best Northern Irish song by a solo artist in years’’
You can check out Littleboy live over the coming weeks and months as Neal and the band pop up all around the country spreading the word about ‘Man Called Horse’.
