THE LITTLE COW DANCE BAND
The Little Cow Dance Band have gained very fast recognition in Hungary. Their song and video clip, Cyberkid, became a real cult product this year. This track generated hype and interest and the band soon found itself on most of Hungarys club and festival stages. The summer tour of 2005 made the band one of the most loved and rocking concert band in Hungary.
Cyberkid broke several records in the music business in Hungary. The tune is far the most popular mobile ring-tone, the videoclip is the most downloaded clip in Hungary from the Internet and it was leading the VIVA videochart for weeks. The song hit any possible charts in Hungary during the summer. Jukeboxes needed to be plugged out in pubs because the track was played so many times, wedding bands needed to learn the it because this has simply been the best party song.
So what kind of music? We can call it a cultural wedding band sounds stupid enough or optimistic underground rock flavoured with virtually every single style. This is not a gypsy band but has a lot of gypsy, Balkan and Eastern European influence (of course). It is not an underground band but the arrangements, the musicians and their roots of music is coming from different alternative bands and cultures. But it is also a dance band with inspiration from ska, reggae, pop, rock, hip-hop and even african music. The words are simple and funny they sing in Hungarian, mixed with other languages (many languages, even non-existent). The concerts are really good fun dance, humor, uniquely Eastern European esthetics, great athmosphere, nice guys. Very good vibe, great energy and fun.
Why Little Cow? The Little Cow is a very nice, happy little yellow cow, who sings, enjoys life and nature. The animation film was created by László Kollár Klemencz, the lead singer of the band, who was also the human voice behind the figure. The film was invited to several international festivals, and the Little Cow figure advertised the Sziget Festival in 2002. The band was born that time and they gave their first concert at that Sziget.
Who is the band for? For kids, because it is funny. For teenagers, because the boys are handsome. For the elderly, because the songs are happy and simple to remember. For city intellectuals, because it is alternative and absurd. For those who are crazy for dancing because they can really go nuts during the gig. For those who like concerts because they are really rocking live. For everybody, who likes good music, nice people, great parties and good fun.
Their new videoclip, Virágok a réten (Flowers on the Meadow) was released in November 2005. The song and the clip is a collaboration between the excellent Hungarian gypsy band, Romano Drom (and their children) and the Little Cow Dance Band (and their children). Similarly to the Cyberkid clip, it is low budget, funny, positive and very likable.
