LITTLE FAITH was started in 2010 by organist Jack Maeby and guitarist Nelson Blanton with the purpose of recording traditional spirituals and exploring their role in originating American roots music. Since then, with the addition of drummer Jesper Krietensen and vocalists Nadia Duggin, John Michael Knowles and Ray Wolffe, the band has expanded its repertoire to include gospel standards and more contemporary songs done gospel style. The LITTLE FAITH repertoire mixes black and white gospel traditions, soul gospel as well as Southern Gospel styles. Our music combines Hammond organ-based gospel with the “sacred steel” tradition based on pedal steel and lap steel guitars. Our influences also include such roots gospel pioneers as the Staple Singers, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Louvin Brothers and the Jordanaires.
