"Winter Daze Makes for Cozy Nights"

"The concert showcased Little Liza Jane....On guitar and belting out some traditional and some songs she wrote herself, Michelle Allen dazzled the audience with her rich voice...The three women [of LLJ] blended their voices and brought in the hills of the south, moisture-laden breezes and nostalgia for when music told stories." - The Mountain Ear

"Nissi's"

[Little Liza Jane is] "an up and coming band that is drawing critical praise throughout Colorado!" - Nissi's

Bio

Most of our music doesn't fit neatly into any category and that's the way we like it. We are all deeply influenced by Blues, Bluegrass, Folk, Alt-country, Acoustic Rock and Old Time acoustic roots music.

Michelle Allen, the bands' founding member, primary guitar and sometime banjo player, has written most of the bands' original material. Michelle prefers a slower, funkier, sweeter sound and it shows in such songs as The Man in the Moon and Love is Blind.

Adrienne Yauk, an accomplished vocalist, songwriter and resophonic guitar (dobro) player has played such venues as the Kerrville Folk Festival, Gruene Hall in New Braunfels TX and the Station Inn in Nashville. Her roots are in the two blues - Blues and Bluegrass and she brings a strong Blues vocal style to the mix.

Kerry Claxton, singer/songwriter and our "secret weapon" tears it up on the mandolin. Kerry was born into a Bluegrass family (her dad plays Bass and sings) and is a veteran of several successful bands including Mountain Standard Time and Coal Creek.

Bass player Marni Pickens became well known as a premier rock and country bass player by performing and recording with such artists as Torin Alter, Philip Shelley, Junkstar, The Hissyfits and Amy Says. Marni was handpicked by punk rock guru Joey Ramone to back-up the legendary Ronnie Spector, a recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Most recently, she has recorded a critically acclaimed album of country-rock duets with musical veterans Gretchen Phillips and David Driver entitled Togetherness.

Michelle, Adrienne, Kerry and Marni each contribute distinct talents, solo voices, unique harmonies, skillful picking, and great original tunes to Little Liza Jane. Their collaboration makes for unique, compelling and highly enjoyable music.
