Bio
Rebecca Bruton (Little Man) moved from Calgary to Toronto in 2007, to study Traditional Balkan Folksong and Jazz Violin at York University. Over the past five years she has worked professionally as both singer and violinist, appearing solo and in a wide array of ensembles from genres as diverse as Persian Classical, Bluegrass, Experimental Jazz and Indie Rock. She has performed at Toronto's Wavelength and X Avant Festivals, and she is a member of the Association of Improvising Musicians Toronto. Since May 2011, she has worked full-time as a performer and composer with Toronto puppet theatre company, 'Clay and Paper Theatre' (http://www.clayandpapertheatre.org).
Little Man is Rebecca's solo project, which she has been performing at venues throughout Calgary and Toronto since 2009. In November of 2011 Rebecca headed to a one-room cabin just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska, to write and record new material for her upcoming record, 'Lands That Move'. Her live performances include original songs accompanied by viola and acoustic bass, physical theatre, expressive storytelling and puppetry.
