"Eight ways to steal your heart"

By James Cunliffe
Little Thief
@ Danny's Bar, Esquires
Bedford

A chant of “Little Thief, Little Thief, Little Thief” rang around a packed Danny’s Bar even before the band took to the stage, and for every second of the next thirty minutes not punctuated by genius jitter-pop the refrain is enthusiastically reprised.

With a Steve Lamacq endorsement for their demo ‘See No Light’ the word has clearly gotten out that this foursome are a band to get passionate about.
Rather than looking shell-shocked at a turnout that would have made one of the Libertines' famed guerrilla gigs look like a children’s tea party, the foursome lap up the intimate attention like they always knew this day would come.
Singer/guitarist Ewan Pinnington is a frontman for the future – hopefully a not too distant one. Between songs and with a mile wide smile etched on his face, he chats to a crowd so close he could catch something unpleasant.
With bassist Chris Plant turning his microphone to the front row rabble Pinnington orders everyone to sing along to the next song. “There’s just one word in the chorus and the word is… Lucinda,” sending the sea of bodies into a bouncing, sing-along frenzy to the Myspace favourite.
Of the eight songs in their repertoire three are so new they haven’t yet thought of names, although one is provisionally named ‘Brussels.’ The most impressive is misspelled on the set list as ‘Foyat Song’ which Pinnington warns: “This song maybe rubbish, but only because we’ve just written it in the foyer. Then again, it might not.”
He’s right, it’s a song that sounds like they’ve been playing it for months not minutes, and a seal of approval on a band with the clear case of the Midas touch.
As the big guns of ‘Can’t Take You Anywhere’ and their infamous demo are brought out to raise the roof there's a realisation that where you can’t beat time and tide, as long as there are bands like Little Thief in the world you will never grow old.

Bio

We are Little Thief, a band from EngLand and have been together since October 06. We all met at school and have known eachother for sometime. Music is cool and so is this site, someone got it just right. Some of the things that have happened in our short existance are; being a mypsace featured artist, geewiz, and getting radio 1 coverage (demo of the week and stuff) amongst quite a few other things, wowza. Enjoy checking out our page!
