Somewhere deep inside all our souls is a place of extreme longing... a desire for connection, acceptance, for hope, for joy, for forgiveness and for spiritual redemption. But most of all the longing for love... perfect love. Littleton Jones seems to capture every emotion that walks hand in hand with those longings on his debut 12-track cd, appropriately titled Somewhere Deep Inside. Jones is a storyteller who gives us some very catchy songs that stay in your head for a long time after you hear them. His sound draws on alternative-pop, funk, classic rock, world beat, and Latin influences. This is by no means your typical singer/songwriter collection. This is a band-lovers singer/songwriter CD (kind of like a cross between Live and Jars Of Clay). Jones is backed by some killer musicians and there is not a second of music that is wasted — every note fits into its right place, pulling you in all the right directions without sounding predictable. The songs remain true to the formula that makes hit songs (and there are a few on here). Somewhere deep inside each of our souls is a place of extreme longing… a desire for connection, acceptance, hope, joy, forgiveness, and most of all for love. American Singer/Songwriter Littleton Jones captures these emotions, fills them with melody and rhyme, and delivers them to soul searching fans of alternative pop, classic rock, and folk music. Most engaging is the sense of intimacy in his voice, honesty in his lyrics, and the feeling that his songs are our songs. It's as if he weaved all our life's experiences together with his and gave us a voice to comfort us.
In the sweltering New Jersey dawn of August 2003, the ac wall unit at The Dancing Goat was anxiously preparing for its biggest challenge. Performing for a sold out crowd of 200 devoted friends and fans, local favorite Littleton Jones subsequently released his 12-track debut cd Somewhere Deep Inside. This is where the party began. After two full years of local performances throughout the NY/NJ Metropolitan area, Littleton Jones "took a left and headed West" to reunite with long-time friend and producer Seth von Paulus. Jones packed his suburban sedan with as much as he could possibly fit, leaving everything else behind. Boxes of grade school valentines, poofy mittens and itchy scarves, worn out bibles and baseball cards. Even his cherished, very first, nylon string classical Sango guitar did not make the cut. The cross country journey to one of the biggest musical capitals of the world would be one that he would never forget, nor regret. Littleton Jones, welcome to LA.
