Nicknamed “The Sunshine Goddess” by the Huffington Post, AMR is ‘life’s cheerleader. She’s a singer, composer, pianist, motivational speaker, yoga teacher, yoga studio owner, personal trainer, ordained Interfaith Minister, and genuinely inspiring person who takes advantage of every nanosecond to make a difference in the lives of others.’
Anne-Margaret (AMR) began her musical journey at age four studying classical piano for sixteen years. It didn’t take long for her to begin composing music and winning competitions for her writing and performing. Her dazzling presence shines through her piano-driven compositions graced by a wide-ranged, soulful voice. AMR has a way of inspiring vulnerability in her listeners as they empathize with the emotional richness in each of her songs, while uncovering lessons learned. Her lust for life is ‘Contagious’ as her first album cautions, and when she’s on the stage, you can’t take your eyes off her.
With comparisons to Fiona Apple, Susan Tedeschi, Tori Amos, & Bonnie Raitt, her musical style attracts listeners from an ocean as wide as the spectrum of human emotions. From the rock-n-roll soulful groove of the Black Crowes to the vulnerable temptress ballads of love gone wrong, to inspiring, motivational anthems that’ll get you smiling and restore your faith in life and love…her music has it all. Her classical piano background combined with her love of soul, rock, and blues, lays a unique, intricate foundation for lyrics of honest and poetic wisdom far beyond her years. A true artist, AMR shares the intimate twists and turns of her life’s journey while sharing the secrets she’s uncovered along the way. Having faced great aversion as a result of her personal convictions, her songs paint the metamorphic journey of a butterfly portraying internal struggles in believing in herself and having her dreams take flight. How did LYP begin???
Her passion for music and diversity brought her to NYC. Not long after she arrived in the Big Apple, she learned the invaluable lesson that anything was possible through community. “I realized first-hand that one person COULD make a difference.”
In 2003, she independently released her debut album ‘CONTAGIOUS’ and embarked on a promotional 30-city US tour. While on tour, she began speaking to high schools and colleges sharing her motivational message “LIVE YOUR PASSION.” The inspirational workshop coupled with a concert of original music and spoken word was received with such enthusiasm that the “Live Your Passion Tour” was born. AMR soon began receiving keynote speaker invitations for various leadership and women’s conferences. AMR challenges and inspires her audience to have the courage, determination, and passion to create a life they love.
One can never know when love will come knocking and that is what happened next. After several serendipitous encounters with her first love, they reunited for good. They spent the first two years of their marriage studying the world religions at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary.
Due to the devastating and many times tragic implications of religious intolerance, the Interfaith movement fills a vital need in our local and global communities bridging the gap between people strongly identified with one particular religious tradition or atheism. Upon ordination, she and her husband Anthony had the honor of singing together before thousands and then were invited to perform a few of AMR’s original songs at the United Nations’ Annual Youth Assemby.
