Livika

Livika is a multi-cultural group of percussionists who believe in bringing cultures and people together through percussion.

Formed and based in Madrid (Spain) Livika is an ever developing project dedicated entirely to percussion including many different types of instruments for all over the world and also self-made instruments using a diverse range of recycled materials. Their main activity includes live performances, masterclasses and also percussion workshops at their own premises or at festivals, schools and other events.

Livika is formed by a fixed and stable group of musicians, each of them with long time experience, spanning countries as diverse as Senegal, Brasil, Spain, Jamaica, India, Cuba, Morocco, and constantly incorporating other countries through the collaboration with guest musicians from all over the world.

The incredible fusion of all these elements creates a truly global ceremony where the musicians make us travel along the roots of the five continents, introducing us in the organic trance of the drums.

An eclectic band that shows the virtuosity and versatility of their musicians in the use of percussion. From Senegal, the djembes and dundums channels the black African tradition that feeds the drums of the world, weaving between dance, a global ceremony full of rhythm and colour; whilst, the samba and its rage pass by the Caribbean, opening the doors for precise and contained compasses of flamenco, ending with the organic trance of Livika drums.

Through their different live projects they cover both traditional use of percussion and also more contemporary sounds mixing percussion with electronic beats and visuals. Dance is also an important part of their live performances and includes many different possibilities like Capoeira, African dance, Latin dance, Belly dance, etc. Interaction with the audience is also one of their strengths inviting people to take active part in their concerts which is always a great success.

What really makes Livika so unique is their capacity to offer in one same show a diverse range of percussion instruments combined with dance and active interaction with the audience. This makes them a very good artistic proposal for both big open air festivals, street parades and indoor venues, offering also the possibility of learning through their percussion workshops.
