"It's A Living Thing - Livingston Live at the Metro (by Sean O'Neill)"

New rock sensation Livingston returned from America having recently recorded a slice of their debut album with legendary producer Al Clay (Feeder, Pink, Pixies, Stereophonics) to play a blistering set of hugely impressive songs. The packed Metro Club audience was not to be disappointed as the former Carling Battle of the Bands winners showed that they really are something else.

Livingston’s music has genuine beauty and power. This is coupled with an exceptionally high standard of musicianship and the wonderful voice of the charismatic front man ‘Beukes’.(...)
One of the things noticeable about Livingston’s material is that it is very original and is free from the derivative nature of many of the ‘new’ bands emerging.(...)
The burning guitar work of Chris van Niekerk and Jakob Nebel showed that this is a classic rock pairing. It is inspiring to hear two six string players who understand so well the idea of space, rhythm and melody. (...)

Livingston also excelled in the quiet moments of the set with songs such as ‘Once Again’ which still drew excited sways from the audience.
However the surprise of the night was the haunting slow brutal emotion of the tragic ‘Vula’. The band abandoned their earlier instruments to show an impressive level of musical dexterity playing an array of instruments from a number of continents. As the tribal rhythm started Beukes chilled spines as he sang the song in his native Zulu.
(...)
Looking into the future of 2007 and beyond Beukes outlined the road ahead for Livingston. ‘A lot of gigging all over the place and (...) releasing the album later in the year; it’s a very big step’.

The gig ended with clusters of well wishers and fans hugging the band to congratulate them on their performance. From what I could see that ‘big step’ is more than ready to be taken. - http://www.liberationfrequency.co.uk

“A fantastic band. Livingston have Top Ten potential” Colin Murray - BBC Radio 1 DJ

After brief recording sessions at Abbey Road and a live performance video shoot at London’s MTV Studios earlier in 2006 Livingston have recently signed a deal with UK Indie Manta Ray Music.
As a result of that, the London based band, whose members come from Italy, Norway, Germany and South Africa, spent the whole of December in L.A. recording songs for their forthcoming album with producer Al Clay (Stereophonics, Feeder, Pixies).

Livingston won the prestigious "UK Carling Battle Of The Bands" in 2005 and has spent the last two years rocking Europe's stages, from frosty Dublin to the southern beaches of Mykonos.

Livingston's first single, which the band recorded with James Lewis (Arctic Monkeys) will be out in the UK on Manta Ray Music in June.
