Biography

Born and raised outside Richmond, Virginia, Liza has been singing and playing music for about six years now. After losing her brother Peter in a car accident, a month before graduating college, Liza found his old guitar one summer day and discovered a hidden talent for music. She began playing and singing Bluegrass and Country music, only to discover a whole new vehicle of expression: writing a song. Bound and determined to learn more, Liza attended Berklee College of Music for a year, and since then has been building a repertoire of original Country and Bluegrass Gospel music. She has been telling her story through song, having recently recorded a cd, How Long Must I Wait, released on April 13th 2011.

The Liza Bance Band is comprised of local Virginia Bluegrass and Country players. Liza on Guitar and Lead Vocal, Gabe Robey on Mandolin and Vocal Harmony, Zachary Hudgins on Bass, Nate Leath on Fiddle, and Jason Wright on Banjo, these players have been playing with Liza for just over a year now, and all come together to help deliver Liza's message as the songwriter to the crowd. Happy listening!

Lyrics

Comin' Home

Written By: Liza Bance

I find myself drivin' down an old dirt road
when I hear your song playin' on the radio
and it takes me 23 years to a day
when as kids we three used to laugh and play

65 degrees and a bright blue sky
through the little green gate, the woods flyin' by
there's cows in the pasture and birds in the air
I whistle with joy, I'm almost there

Comin' home to Old Virginia
to a land I love so dear
home to the heart of the country
where the bluebirds sing good cheer
comin' home to a land of wanderin' streams
boxwoods, daffodils and old oak trees
to a time way back in my memory
I'm comin' home

I turn round the bend and the garden's in view
the dogs are a barkin' a welcoming crew
your dogwood trees grown a little this year
I see my mama as she sheds a tear

she carries my bags and welcomes me home
she hands me a glass and my old rag doll
darlin' tell me how the world is now
welcome home, welcome home

Home to Old Virginia
to a land I love so dear
home to the heart of the country
where the bluebirds sing good cheer
comin' home to a land of wanderin' streams
boxwoods, daffodils and old oak trees
to a time way back in my memory
I'm comin' home
to a time way back in my memory
I'm comin' home!
