"Liza Day, The Adam Stearns Band, Tom Snowball live at The State Bar, Glasgow"

"Exuding warmth and confidence, her distinctive and affecting voice left me with no doubt that she could easily escape the acoustic environment into any genre she chose. She was equally comfortable with covers and her own material (from her album "Liza Day and the Northbound Trestle Singers", which is surely worthy of your investigation) and, quite justifiably, was cornered by an appreciative audience into an encore. As everybody knows, Glasgow audiences are the hardest to please in the world so that, in itself, speaks volumes". - Bluesbunny Music Reviews

Bio

Liza Day and the Northbound Trestle Singers are a 5-piece Midwest Americana band rooted in Chicago’s young, alternative-country tradition. The band was founded in 2008, by singer/song-writer and Wisconsin native, Liza Day, a graduate and former artist in residence of The Contemporary Music Center in Martha’s Vineyard, MA. Liza, 28, leads the band with a voice unforgettably warm and pure, skillfully combined with a performance as vulnerable and sincere as the songs themselves. The band’s musical style is described as straight-forward classic country, layered with a raw, untidy, rockabilly vibe.

In August, 2009, they released their debut album entitled, Liza Day and the Northbound Trestle Singers, recorded and produced in Chicago. Since then, the band has completed several successful tours on the east coast and in the Midwest. In home-base Chicago, they continue to play many well-known local venues including; Schuba’s, Fitzgerald’s, Bottom Lounge, and recently opened for national touring artist Sahara Smith. The song “Before All Turns Grey” was featured in the 2011 documentary Out of Respect: A Story of Five Directed by Emmy award-winning filmmaker Tess Gallun.

The band toured the Midwest in Summer 2011 and began prep for their anticipated EP. In August, one half of the band (Liza Day & Adam Wisz) jetted overseas for their first tour of the UK. They played eight dates at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland and two dates in Glasgow. The tour was well-received, and Liza made it into the semi-finals of the Fringe Festival’s popular Lach’s Antihoot, a show that earned a 5 star rating from The Herald Scotland.

Back from the UK in fantastic spirits, Liza Day headed into the studio in September to record a 6-song EP, titled One For Courage. Recording was done at The Smoakstack in Nashville, Tennessee which was founded by Grammy-nominated producer Paul Moak.

Summer 2012 will see the release of EP One For Courage, a CD release show in Chicago and a number of shows throughout the Midwest.
