“It is an honor to be recognized for my solo music, I enjoy recording and playing live at local NC venues and festivals. My latest musical adventure is playing with Molly Vaugthers in our band Acoustic Grounds. We have been fortunate to play gigs all over the state and are in the process of recording a full length album due out this fall under the Castnet Records label”.

In recent months Lizzie has joined forces with powerhouse musician Molly Vaughters to create the duo band Acoustic Grounds (www.acousticgrounds.com). Acoustic Grounds, Raleigh, NC based band, offers an unique sound developed by singer/songwriters Molly Vaughters and Lizzie O’Briant. Vaughters, singer/guitar, musical roots come from the obscure Indie underground Swedish bands that focus on storytelling much like the folk music that comes out of her native state North Carolina Mountains. Hints of modern singer/songwriter style, much like the sounds of Jack Johnson, ring from her acoustic guitar. Lizzie O, singer/guitar, brings a current tone to this Duo which keeps the melodies upbeat for a combination that is sure to produce hits for years to come. Lizzie’s strong lyrics set the stage for tight harmonies that shine through brilliantly in each of their original compositions. Their complimentary unique voices and playing styles offer up simply beautiful melodies and harmonies that keep listeners wanting more. The band is currently spending most of their time in the studio writing and recording, but can be found playing gigs at local venues. Discovered by Castnet Records Matt B at a local open mic., “I knew instantly that these two very unique solo artists would be great together”, said Matt B. The result was as expected and today AG offers an original musical experience. Keep a look out for new music and live performances from this very talented, young but adept band.

The Fifth Anniversary of the Carolina Music Awards is shaping up to be a very special event for organizers and nominees. The Carolina Music Awards, were held at the Progress Energy Center’s Fletcher Opera Theatre on July 15.

“We’re pleased that the level of participation increases from year to year,” states Omar McCallop, of O Ent Inc., “We wish each and every nominee continued success.” - Raleigh Music

Liz Lauren is the 2012 Carolina Music Awards Youth Artist of the Year. She recorded and released her first solo single on iTunes at age 11, the EP One Chance at age 12 and is currently working on a full length album planned for a fall release.

Early 2012 Liz formed a band and performed original songs and covers like Paramore's "The Only Exception" at some of the top venues and festivals in the state. The band opened up for acts like the Canadian band Cuff the Duke at Motorco in Durham, Matt Phillips and the Phil Harmonic at Local 506 in Chapel Hill, and the Chris Hendricks Band at local schools and venues in Raleigh. As a solo act she is now sharing the top bill at festivals across the southeast and is a regular performer at local venues statewide like Pack's Tavern in Asheville, Sola Café and the Pour House downtown Raleigh. She has also headlined charity events at Tobacco Trial, PNC Arena and the Time Warner Pavilion.

Liz is an avid songwriter and shared her talents at this year’s Virginia Key Music Festival in Florida performing and teaching their annual songwriters workshop. This spring she will be attending the Darrell Scott Songwriting intensive in Nashville, TN and studying voice with the National Television Show American Idol’s Vocal Coach James Lugo. Most recently performed in Joslyn Hall for our very own CCC Foundation International Film Series on March, 15th.
