"Lizzyspit - I'm alive you know"

Lizzyspit has gone from writing and recording music in her own bedroom to receiving national radio acclaim and seeks to build on her momentum with this new live collection. The songs are observations on life’s hopes, fears and relationships, and although they might suffer a little from being in too similar a vein, Lizzyspit’s sound carries them through.

While the live set could have been bolstered with some extra instrumentation, like an extra guitar or some classical strings, the stripped down set suits Lizzyspit’s music, led as it is by her strong presence and a beautiful, warm voice. The acoustic guitar is rich but understated and works well with the backing vocals and percussion.

Her latest single ‘Talk You Down’ highlights the set, with its passionate lyrics telling tales of determination in the face of adversity. ‘Stars In The Water’ is an evocative track, with choir-like backing vocals creating a dreamy effect.

Other highlights include ‘Little Dan’ a jaunty tribute to both young and old, while ‘I Worry, I Wait’ will strike a cohrd with people’s hopes and anxieties in this current uncertain climate. If you love a more stripped down laid back sound, Lizzyspit is right up your street. - For Folks Sake

"Introducing Lizzyspit"

Her debut album EGGBOX, is full of honesty, sincerity and charm and with enough of life’s harsh realities and experiences with people and life, lets the listener know how Lizzyspit deals with such situations. As Lizzy states “To the boys and girls who have hurt me and the boys and girls I’ve hurt, without you my songs wouldn’t exist”. This is an insight into the person Lizzy is and one that captures the snapshots of experiences that happen to almost everyone throughout life.Written, performed and mixed by Lizzy herself, locked away like a hermit in an egg boxed bedroom (hence the title!), this a raw and beautiful sounding album, one that hopefully shows the dedication to her songs and music that Lizzyspit so obviously has. - The 405

"Voice on the Verge"

LizzySpit (aka Elizabeth Knights-Ward) isn’t the first budding troubadouress to make an album in her bedroom, but she’s refreshingly honest about her limited means and ambition to damn well make the most of them. Eggbox couldn’t be more perfect a title for her debut release (out today): ten resolutely gloss-free, pitch shift dodging songs about, well, a young woman from Clapham’s reality and not much else. Reviews thus far seem to be divided between those who think releasing such a raw album is brave and those who think it’s simply naïve. It’s probably a bit of both (think of those early Emmy The Great demos, only less knowingly quirky and self-congratulatory), and it’s hard to escape the nagging feeling that if Lizzy’s songs were less pop-oriented her strong DIY ethic would be praised to the skies. But if Eggbox sounds almost too naked on the first few listens, its appeal grows with every play as Lizzy’s stories draw you in ever closer with their low-key, truth-telling simplicity. “I don’t need a drummer to make this a band,” she sings, “I’m going alone ’cause it’s what I planned.” An admirable mission statement and one you should consider seeing come to life at tonight’s album launch party at London’s famous 12 Bar. Get to know her a bit better first, too, if you like… - http://www.wearsthetrousers.com

"Is Lizzyspit the new voice of pop?"

If you haven’t heard Lizzyspit then its probably not going to be what you expect. Lizzyspit is a singer/songwriter based in Clapham, London with an unmistakable charm and innocence.

Think a middle-class Kate Nash, Sandi Thom and K T Tunstall.

Her debut single released in 2008, ‘Laura’s Diary’, received airplay and support from BBC Radio 2 Steve Lamacq and her debut album ‘Eggbox’ received critical acclaim.

With numerous national radio and live TV performances throughout 2008, Lizzyspit releases her new double A side single ‘Little Dan’ and ‘Stars in the Water’, expect Lizzyspit to have some commercial success in 2009.

This truly is deserved recognition for Lizzy’s beautiful, soulful vocals, which are in equal parts full of pain and sensual.

Funny and charming you won’t forget Lizzyspit in a hurry with her unique take on life’s every day trials.
