LJQ was formed in the early part of 2006 primarily to provide a Latin-Jazz ensemble tailored to smaller venues such as restaurants, jazz clubs and coffee houses. LJQ's specialty is instrumental versions of jazz and latin standards. Cheek To Cheek, All Blues, Blue Bossa, Killer Joe and Saint Thomas are examples of well-known jazz standards performed by LJQ in its inimitable fiery latin style. But LJQ also performs other classic latin
standards as well. Be it Merengue (such as Compadre Pedro Juan, El Sancocho Prieto or El Africano), or Cuban Son (ala Son De La Loma), ballads (Obsesion) or pure Salsa (like Bilongo) LJQ is equally at home playing many time-honored traditional tunes. LJQ's instrumentation consists of Piano, Bass, Saxophones and Percussion.
Small, yet concise, LJQ fits well in just about any situation.
