"Nashville Skyline: Nobody Asked Me, But..."

There have been a few singers who can come close to copying Jones vocally, but I recently ran across someone who sounds a s close to Jones as I’ve ever heard.

L.M. Stone has a natural singing voice that is so similar that It’s eerie – but does not sound as if he’s consciously following Jones. Check out his new CD on Lamb, Looking Through The Mirror Of My Life. It has good, if not, great, songs and is definitely worth a listen. All I know about him is that he’s a native of the Caribbean island of St. Lucia and has been working in the Atlanta area.

"Country Music News"

If there was a contest to discover who sounds most like George Jones, L.M. Stone would win it hands down…even Sammy Kershaw gets bumped down a notch on that list of soundalikes after you’ve heard L.M. Stone…it’s truly remarkable just how close he gets vocally to The Possum - - and we’re told its his own original style of delivering his music.

The story gets even better…L.M. Stone is not from Texas or Tennessee; but from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia (where he performed as Linus Modeste - - hence the “L.M” initials to his country moniker). More recently he has relocated to Georgia, and Looking Through The Mirror Of My Life represents his third album outing. It’s really a classic effort, especially if you’re a fan of hardcore country hurt, done in the ‘key of Jones’.

L.M. Stone pads the George Jones vocal styling by showing some additional skills as a songwriter, penning three of the tunes here, Heaven And Hell, There Goes Happiness and Somebody Cares, all strong efforts. Several other winners, Shattered Dreams, Don’t Let The Bottle Take Control Of Me and the album’s title track were penned by Stone’s manager, Lambert Atkins (obviously also a George Jones ‘disciple’).

There’s even a Canadian touch to this project with songwriter Bryan Way contributing two powerhouse country songs in If I Ever Get a Chance To Love Again and She Took Everything But The Kitchen Sink.

The only thing missing here is Billy Sherrill.

"Kountry Korral Magazine"

This guy seems to have been listening to George Jones and the record is strictly country. L.M. Stone lives in Georgia and there are two earlier albums on the market. You can hear steel and fiddle and the pickers are very able. Though most of the names are unknown. The record grows with each play and there are some real gems here like “She Took Everything But The Kitchen Sink”, “There Goes Happiness”, “Heaven or Hell”, “Shattered Dreams” and “Don’t Let The Bottle Take Control Of Me”. Several of the songs are written by L.M. Stone. Very good album! There is still real country to be discovered! - February 2006
