"Fun Fun Fun Fest: The Austin Artists"

LNS Crew – 11:55, Blue Stage. Some of the most hyped and talented young hip-hop talents from the Live Music Capital have teamed up together to form a new crew of MC’s. The leading stars here are Kydd Jones and Cory Kendrix, both of whom have been making waves for a little while now, but PacBoiTank and Deezie Fresh are no slouches either. Sky’s the limit for this bunch. - OVRLD

"Playback: Weekender"

Saturday: Any one of the LNS Crew's charismatically blunted core MCs – Kydd Jones, Cory Kendrix, or Tank Washington – would've been a suitable solo pick for the Chronicle's annual hip-hop Cookout at Scoot Inn, but their powers combined made for a show-stopping sunset performance, which peaked with Jones starting a one-man mosh pit. - Austin Chronicle

"Kydd Jones performing at POP Montreal (Canada) & FunFunFunFest (Austin)"

The talent and influence of Austin-based rapper Kydd Jones is catching ears everywhere, performing at Club Soda on September 28th for POP Montreal along with Houston rapper Fat Tony and rap posse Alaclair Ensemble. The Canadian festival’s hip-hop bill includes underground heavyweights such as Killer Mike, Chali 2na from Jurassic 5, Sole of Anticon Records and more. - GrooveLovesMelody

"Thursday music picks: LNS Crew at Austin Hip Hop Cares benefit"

With a roster that mixes up-and-coming talent with old faves, the ATX hip-hop scene pulls together to help victims of the SXSW 2014 crash. LNS Crew is an obvious standout on the lineup. With monster talent Kydd Jones rapping alongside emcees Cory Kendrix (whose latest mixtape "Ignorance" just dropped this week), Tank Washington and Deezie Fresh, the crew’s catalog is thick with heavily blunted crowd movers. - Austin360

"What You Know About Them Texas Boys? The Return of Screw York City"

Tonight's Santos Party House show sees rappers from Houston, Austin and San Antonio on the bill: Doughbreezy, KYDD, League of Extraordinary Gz, World Wide, Grit Boys and more. - The Village Voice

"Red Bull Soundstage - Kydd (Austin, TX) A3C in Atlanta Video"

ATX’s own! Austin that is... Check out the homie Kydd as he talks growing up as a kid, his latest project Sounds In My Head 2, working with other artists and more in the latest episode of Red Bull’s Soundstage live from A3C. - A1HipHop

"Kydd & Tank - Russian Roulette"

Kydd - Russian Roulette – DJBooth
Plenty of rappers say they’re dedicated to the hustle but, when you get down to it, relatively few are willing to put their lives on the line. On the lead single off his next studio album, Booth newcomer Kydd shows just how determined (and crazy) he is by sitting down with three homies for a rousing game of Russian Roulette. Here, Click Clack‘s pensive boardwork sets the mood as the Austin, Texas emcee, spits bars alongside LNS crewmates Tank (not to be confused with the R&B veteran) and Chicago staple GLC. Singer/songwriter Max Frost handles the hook. While Kydd’s next LP has yet to receive either a title or drop date, those who like what they’re hearing can keep it locked for the latest leading up to its arrival next month. - DJBooth

"Video: Kydd Meets Chuck D & Then Opens For Public Enemy"

Last March Kydd released a mixtape entitled Sounds In My Head 2 which had guest features from Yelawolf, GLC, Pac Div and many more. The tape really stamped Kydd’s name onto the music scene and he recently whilst at home had a phone call from Chuck D. Chuck said how much he was feeling the tape and invited Kydd down to Los Angeles to open up for them at the The Hip Hop Gods Tour and also gain some stage experience at Club Nokia. Chuck sat Kydd down and gave him some advice on performing live and then let Kydd loose onto the stage. Kydd who is now living in New York will release his new single Jet Life which features MF DOOM in the very near future. - YouHeardThatNew

"AnnaLove x Cory Kendrix - 'Worth Something' EP"

"It was a dream come true," says Austin-based DJ/producer AnnaLove, about her experiences as a Red Bull Music Academy 2013 participant. "There were so many interesting and insanely talented people to meet and collaborate with; it was like a giant playground for like-minded people to go ham and do what we all love to do."

Today we're excited to premiere AnnaLove's latest work, the 'Worth Something' EP. For the four-track (plus a Payton Long remix) release, she teamed up with rapper Cory Kendrix, who released a solo album earlier this year titled 'IGNORANCE.' And the title-track features Austin artists Keeper. The EP, for which Love produces and Kendrix is on vocals, is one of Levin's first collaborative projects. - RedBull.com

"NXNE Spill Magazine's 5 Questions - Cory Kendrix"

ARTIST NAME: Cory Kendrix

1. What's your favourite thing about a festival like NXNE?

My favorite part about festivals like NXNE is seeing cool acts and meeting people who have similar interests as me: drugs and music.

2. What should we expect from your live show?

Definitely expect a high energy set with a lot of crowd participation.

3. Tell us something we probably don't know about your band.

I've tried to kill myself a bunch of times by trying to smoke too much weed, but it hasn't worked yet.

4. If you could write the soundtrack for any existing film (from any decade) which film would you choose and what would the songs sound like?

"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"... it'd sound like I took a lot of drugs.

5. Would you rather open for Neil Young or Bruce Springsteen, and why?

I'd rather listen to Marilyn Manson. - Spill Magazine

"Recommended Events: LNS Crew Live at The Mohawk 7/21/2013"

An endless stream of posse cuts and solo projects has helped make Austin’s LNS Crew one of the most formidable hip-hop troupes this city’s seen in years: a four-man cypher that spits bars on par with fellow locals like Die Slo Entertainment and the League of Extraordinary G’z. Fronted by Brooklyn part-timer Kydd Jones and Oregon import Cory Kendrix, the crew’s carved out a down-tempo style that’s helped them accrue feature spots from national acts like Pac Div, Skyzoo, and A.Dd+. - The Austin Chronicle

"Cory Kendrix - Black Roses"

Despite not occurring in nature, Black Roses are commonly invoked as a symbol of hope on one hand, and death or mourning on the other. Both those meanings are relevant to Cory Kendrix‘s first Booth feature, premiering right here on our front page. On this low-key, introspective cut, the Austin-based rhymesayer reflects on a childhood and adolescence spent surrounded by reminders of mortality, including the untimely deaths of numerous homies. A.Dd+‘s Slim Gravy shifts the focus to the present and future in his closing 16, spitting, “Grown man still growin’ up. / All I know is ‘bout decisions.” Y2JJ produces the cut’s hazy, sampled instrumental backdrop, and an uncredited female vocalist provides the hook. Feeling it? More fresh, thought-provoking tunes are just a few clicks away; download Kendrix’s IGNORANCE LP now. - DJBooth

"Interview: Cory Kendrix - Realize Your Ignorance Before Committing"

They say life's a journey. While that may be true, many of us go through life with blinders on. We're constrained by our own fears, insecurities and trapped by dogma. When you meet Cory Kendrix, a member of the Austin hip-hop group, LNS Crew, you quickly realize that he is a nonconformist and the shackles of society do not pertain to him. In the soon to be released EP, “Ignorance”, Cory wants people to take those blinders off and be more aware of their own ignorance.

The life story of Cory Kendrix starts off in Oregon and at the young age of 11, he moved to Austin, TX. Soon after, Cory started working and developing his skills as an artist. He would blend his west coast influences with the unique Austin culture and sound that would become Cory’s self reflective smoker friendly sound. The time he spent working on his craft and art would lead to lifelong friendships and would eventually turn into the local powerhouse, LNS Crew.

The Cory Kendrix solo discography starts with a project called “The UnMixTape” and the most recent work, “Free Beer.” His historical works show a very introspective artist touching on such topics as relationships, drug use and coping with mental distress. The story of a man coming of age and figuring out life and the world around him is reflected in these earlier works.

“Ignorance”, the title of the soon to be released third solo project by Cory, in his own words will be very “ignorant”, very “ratchet” and more club friendly. “Ignorance” is the next step in the evolution of Cory as an artists and as a human being. The project will be a collection of his learnings about the artist lifestyle, the highs and lows and a warning of the pitfalls to avoid.

The first single, “Hold It In”, features fellow Austin artist Sertified along with Worldwide of San Antonio. The mellow trap production of Scott Pace gives the song a smooth house party feel which fits the strong collaboration between the three. Listen to the first single, “Hold It In” off of “Ignorance”.

In the past year, Cory along with LNS Crew, have been on a whirlwind tour across the country from California, NY, Atlanta and Texas. As part of the LNS Crew, Cory performed in LA with Chuck D of Public Enemy and other hip-hop legends on the HipHopGods Tour. (Cory wanted to give a huge shout out to Redbull and the Redbull team for putting the LNS Crew on.) And just recently, LNS Crew was announced as part of Fun Fun Fun Fest in November.

For the new EP, “Ignorance”, the planning for tours are already in the works, so be on the lookout for those. - AustinHipHopScene

"Tank & Cory Kendrix - "Getting My Thoughts Together""

Cool down with this smooth, Austin jam by Tank and Cory Kendrix. It's interesting to hear artists continue to push the envelope in terms of crossing regional and genre lines. Take this track, for example, which combines twangy western guitar with smooth soul and vocal samples reminiscent of 1990's east coast hip-hop. To top it off, you'll hear rhyme schemes cadences that take you back to vintage Snoop Dogg classics. Similar to A$AP Rocky, the synthesis of these elements makes for a refreshing listen that's not easily attributable to any region. Music lovers will enjoy picking out different elements. Cory and Tank are looking to release their first collaborative project within the next week, as part of the LNS Crew. - ArtisticManifesto.com

"THE PULSE: AUSTIN’S TANK LOADS UP WITH HIS 6 SHOTS EP"

The LNS Crew from Austin, TX may mistakenly be labeled as a crew that follows Kydd around but that is one serious misconception. Comparable to the League of Extraordinary Gz, possibly no other crew represents the ups and downs of the 512 better than them. If Kydd is the group’s outright star in the making thanks to his duality on the mic and the boards then Tank, its bearded everyman might be its most notable lieutenant.

6 Shots, the Austin native’s latest EP runs on the blood of West Coast DJ Quik inspired synths (“Whatever”), colossal drum landscapes (“Six Shots”) and a general connection to keep things eye level. He jokingly attempts to discuss lyrical miracles between stomping drums and his breakfast routine of weed and cereal but nothing seriously bites hard. Punchlines don’t immediately move mountains yet they feel quite conversational — and easy to run along with. 6 Shots decides to make most of its coin on the charisma of its main character, a father and family man who divides his time drinking, smoking and setting up his own misadventures in Austin. Stream the EP below via Tank’s Soundcloud page and watch videos from two of the tapes singles, “Cheers” and “One Deep”. - DayAndADream.com

"Did the Smoked Out New Video ‘Leaders Life 4 Ever’ from Austin Hip-Hop Collective LNS Crew Just Hotbox The Whole City?"

While you were out on break, Austin’s hip-hop collective LNS Crew dropped a video for their smoked-out track “Leaders Life 4 Ever.” Great for a foggy day like today, the song merges that down South, windows-down, cruising sound with old soul, slightly jazzy, stoned chilled vibes. Full of whisky, blunts, and buds, this video has everything you’d expect from a band who just opened for Curren$y. There’s even an appearance by what looks like the Barton Creek Mall food court.

Even though a lot of folks saw LNS Crew for the first at last year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest, the MCs have been serving beats in Austin for a long time. In 2012, the group had a monthly at the Mohawk. In 2013, members of the group, composed of Kydd, PacboiTank, Cory Kendrix, Deezie Brown, and DJ Charlie, dropped several mix tapes. 2014 hopes to bring more noise around the group with full-lengths dropping soon. - Republic Of Austin

Bio

Comparable to golden age urban Southern posses like The Dungeon Family or the Screwed Up Click as well as modern powerhouses such as Black Hippy or G.O.O.D Music, their cross between modern, electronic hiphop and old school R&B lends themselves to the modern music landscape where influences from all over the spectrum mesh in the thick Texas heat in which the main members were raised: Kydd Jones, the native Austinite icon destined for the bright lights; Cory Kendrix, the Oregon-born emcee/singer-songwriter renowned for his versatile style; Tank Washington, the elder statesman who graduated from the streets to the booth.

They have toured numerous times across the country, including The Red Bull Skooled Tour, LRG Homegrown Tour, Yelawolf Texas Tour, Big Sean College Tour, Sneaker Pimps Tour, The Return of Screw York City Tour, The Cool Kids Southwest Tour, The Lz In The Sky Tour, The HipHopGods Tour & more as well as having performed at festivals like SXSW, A3C, NXNE, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival as well as others.

Their most recent projects include Tank's "6 Shots," Kydd's "Anunnaki," and Cory's "Ignorance." They are all slated for new 2014 LPs released late fall and winter.
