Bio
Sweet harmonies, murder ballads, working class epics and lost highway blues. Local 164 plays a brand of Alt/Country music inspired by the great artists of the 20th century with a perspective wrought from the complexities of modern life.
Their stunning debut album produced by Indie star Andrew Penner of Sunparlour Players features lush harmonies, soaring pedal steel, a feisty banjo and sweet electric guitars. The characters in this sometimes tragic, sometimes beautiful world are on a search for something missing, something bigger, something forgotten.
Toronto based Local 164 is made up of long time hard-working musicians and actors, led by actor/musician Gordon Bolan (Gords Ramble), Jenny Young on banjo (celebrated leading Canadian actor and star of CBCs Afghanada), Jason OBrien on double bass (Elastocitizens) and Dave Chan (Drumhand, Shoot the Cameraman) .
Their music draws from the Carter Family acoustic sound to Gram Parsons style country. Local 164 bring a refreshing energy to their live show and are developing a loyal and enthusiastic fan base wherever they play.
'Dreams from Belle County' is an ode to an unforgiving place where lost souls wander a strange and changing landscape searching for fulfillment, old loves, and fading dreams.
