Local Kid

Local Kid has a simple vision: to infuse powerful music with the essence of life experience. Originally envisioned in the suburbs of Boston, MA - two 10 year old boys began writing and performing music. The group simply sought a way to express their joys and frustrations while entertaining family and friends. Except for a brief reunion in Austin, TX around 1999, each went their separate ways and had many experiences and a few other bands.

So in the Winter of 2009, Junior and AmayA rejoined and welcomed Shopan - an experienced vocalist already performing in the Los Angeles scene, to help in recording a Mash-Up, two song demo of Local Kid songs. The resulting collaboration caught the attention of industry veterans and an aggressive new label. After recording three songs with Grammy winner, Rafa Sardina, Amaya returned to Austin to continue with the original lineup of Local Kid which consisted of vocalist - Katie Combs, second guitarist - Lynyrd Stogner, Drummer - Bryce Kelly, Bass guitar - Jay Puente, and Keyboard/Sampler - Kevin Instone,. The band began tearing through stages in the Los Angeles area, as well as touring in Texas, which they now call home, and are currently in the studio recording their new album with a March 2012 release date.

Local Kid's influences span from The Foo Fighters and Faith No More, to a mix of classical and soul artists. As a combination of experience and a newer formula, their music is packed with emotion, energy and a message about life
