Biography

Formed in the winter of 2003, local traffic has played for every age group and every possible venue. From entertaining large groups at Crissy Field in San Francisco, and Ackerman Student Union at UCLA, the Mountain View Art and Wine festival, Gilroy Garlic Festival, numerous intimate coffee shops and bars in the South Bay area, and on the streets with the San Jose Rock and Roll Half Marathon. local traffic has also won “battle of the bands” contests at both Santa Clara University, and the University of the Pacific, both contests being decided by audience vote. This support has gained local traffic local recognition in becoming one of the top acts in the area.

The members of local traffic consist of 4 aspiring musicians, Darrin Shimizu, Tommy Quigg, Tim Duffy, and Ian Moore. Shimizu, Quigg, and Moore all met while students at San Jose State University. Darrin is graduated and splits time with the band as a disc jockey for Mix 106.5, KEZR in San Jose. Tommy is an Biology major, and Ian is finishing up his degree in mechanical engineering. Tim Duffy, has been working hard as a drum instructor, and is taking his own drumming abilities to new levels. The collaboration of the 4 have created a sound that can show the influences of four different musicians, but at the same time come together to create a new unique sound.

Take Back

music by local traffic
lyrics by Darrin Shimizu

When i looked inside this emptyness
I saw that face I longed to kiss
gonna let it come inside,
gotta take it for a ride,
let me empty all the feelings i don't wanna miss

The view from here's just not the same
my ears they wanna hear your name
don't remember all the words,
that created all this hurt,
let me figure out another way to take the blame

cause i never said goodbye the way i should,
and i never told you all i know i could
so when you finally close those eyes tonight,
we'll think back to a time we thought was right

If i passed you on the corner would you turn around
a thousand words a smile, you don't make a sound
but you turned the other way,
and i never got to say,
all the little bits of everything i never found

cause i never said goodbye the way i should,
and i never told you all i know i could
so when you finally close those eyes tonight,
you'll think back to a time we thought was right

cause i never said goodbye the way i should,
and i never told you all i know i could
so when you finally close those eyes tonight,
just think back to a time we knew was right

Whispers

Music by local traffic
Lyrics by Darrin Shimizu

Keep commin over my way,
and i'll never let you down
the thoughts and hopes
that fuel your dreams,
i'll keep always safe and sound
so extract all doubt from in your mind
rely on this new love that you've found

cause when I look inside your eyes,
I see a world inside
a place where we can hide
and leave this all behind
help me find it, tonight

well listen to our whispers,
over all the other noise that you hear
voiced emotion from inside
empties all the sadness that we feel

cause when I look inside your eyes,
I see a world inside
a place where we can hide
and leave this all behind
help me find you, tonight

sometimes i stop and take a breath
just to let what's happening sink in
always trust your heart in time
you'll find that it'll somehow work out in the end

cause when I look inside your eyes,
I see a world inside
a place where we can hide
and leave this all behind
help me find it
help me get there
help me find you, tonight

Lost in Interpretation

Music by local traffic
Lyrics by Juan Isaza and Darrin Shimizu

Check out my story
starts off at ten
works throught the evening,
when he ends up in bed
night starts off young,
drinkin' with the boys,
coors light original,
the beer of his choice
cell phone starts ringing
picks up to a voice,
screams in excitement,
she's one of his toys
makes up a story to get her in bed,
she fights, won't let go,
now her face is turning red

he whispers, sweet nothings in their ears
promises them the world, when they are near
the days get older and she starts to cry
asking herself what she's not doing right
tell me, where are you now,
where are you now

check out my story
it starts off at ten
wakes in the morning
their both lying in bed
last night it started young,
now their both brain-dead,
sickness, confusion,
running away with them
love played no part in this
yeah, cupid missed his heart, not hers
she left this morning
boy, her head fell apart
she made the news known
a conquest made in vain,
she thought that she loved the boy,
but all she feels is pain

he whispers, sweet nothings in their ears
promises them the world, when they are near
the days get older and she starts to cry
asking herself what she's not doing right
oh where are you now,
where are you now

he whispers, sweet nothings in their ears
promises them the world, when they are near
the days get older and she starts to cry
asking herself what she's not doing right
baby, where are you now,
where are you now
where are you now
where are you now
