"Album Release"

Mixing both classic and modern metallic sounds – without sacrificing the importance of melody – the Birmingham, AL-based trio, Lock 13, are about to make major waves with their latest album, the digital-only release, Inner Enemy. Comprised of vocalist Jon Childers, guitarist Drew Hall, and drummer Brad Aaron, the band recently signed with the label Mortal Music - the label founded by Tim King (SOil) and Rob Such (Twelfth Gate, Chicago Powerfest).

“When I first heard Lock 13, I immediately thought of them as a band that makes timeless music,” states King, SOil bassist and co-founder of Mortal Music. “This is such a rare trait in bands today, especially since trends go so fast, and disposable heroes are a dime a dozen”

Mortal Music quickly signed the band and King began working on songs with them to add to thier new album. Shortly thereafter, Lock 13 hunkered down at Bieler Brothers Studio with producer Tadpole (Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Plain White T’s). The album was then mixed by Ulrich Wild (Pantera, White Zombie, Deftones, Seether), and the results are sure to catch the ear of admirers of rock/metal fans, as evidenced by such standout tracks as “Can You” and “Faded.”

The band has built a solid fan base in the south and has toured as far as Chicago and Los Angeles to spread their music. Having performed with the likes of breaking Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, and 3 Doors Down, the band plans to hit the road in support of the new release with dates to be announced soon.

Bio

Lock 13 was brought to fruition in 2001. Throughout the beginning years, the band made various studio recordings. The first, a self-produced 7-song EP which initially became popular around the Birmingham rock scene, soon caught the attention of L.A. producer, Michael Raphael (former guitarist of Neve).
At Raphael’s Studio ‘Earthtone Sounds,’ the group recorded their second EP, which helped establish the group as a mainstay on the local scene. The EP also received frequent mainstream radio play from stations in Atlanta, Pensacola, Panama City, New Orleans, Myrtle Beach, Ft. Walton, Mobile, Birmingham, Los Angeles, and even Holland.

After a few years, Lock 13 was discovered by SOiL bassist Tim King. He sent them to his hometown of Chicago, IL to record a 3-song demo with producer Tadpole at Rax Trax. Tadpole is legendary producer Johnny K's right hand man, and has worked with Johnny K on such projects as 3 Doors Down, Disturbed, SOiL, Drowning Pool, Machine head, and Earshot to name a few.

Shortly after the completion of the 3-song demo, Tim King and his longtime friend Rob Such (Twelfth Gate, Chicago Powerfest) decided to sign the band as one of the first artists on their newly founded label; Mortal Music. After signing the deal, the guys in Lock 13 were sent to ‘Bieler Bros Studios’ in Pompano Beach, FL to record their debut album “Inner Enemy.” The album was mixed by renowned producer Ulrich Wild (Pantera, White Zombie, Deftones, Seether).

“Inner Enemy” can now be purchased at Itunes, amazon.com, bestbuy.com, and other online retailers
