"Chicago Sun Times"

Trump Tight (TNT), "So Fly' CD single (Trump Tight Records)

Gearing up to release a full album called "The Program" to follow their earlier EP "The Epoligue," this trio of South Side emcees spent the last few months of 2004 working this three-song single ["So Fly" b/w "Hip-Hop" and Coast 2 Coast"] in order to prime the pump. the standout is the title track, which builds on a winning old-school soul groove in the tradition of Kanye West's proven formula while Da King, Uno c and Urban Po Pay homage to their idea of an ideal honey with deft rhymes and funny, good-natured cracks that never stoop to sexist pandering.

Bio

Childhood friends, turned rap group, then business partners explains the chemistry behind Lock Block, Inc. Lock Block, Inc, previously named Trump Tight Records, started in Snugg's basement in the early 90's and quickly grew into an inspiration for a community of emcees and producers. A community who has supported them for years and has emerged since then to bring forth a number of artist such as Eloh Beatz(produced for GLC and Bump J), B Honeycutt(singer on Dip Set), Billa Camp(Lead singer of Treologic), Mike Streetz(manager for BXC new artist on DTP), Get It Crackin Ent.(produced for GLC), and other local artist. Since then Lock Block has worked with an array of artist including but not limited to, GLC, Mikkey Halsted, BXC, 4-ize, and J-uice. Still growing and inspiring others to follow their dreams, Mike Snugg and J. White are now on the verge of creating musical history for the city of Chicago, U.S., and World Wide. What makes them so different is their distinct love, appreciation, and ear for all music. J. White now taking the forefront as the image of Lock Block represents everything we stand for: Diligence, Persistence, and Creativity. His story is that of the blue collar African American on the quest to free himself from the chains of daily social barriers. Mike Snugg who has developed and ear for engineering and went back to school at Columbia College Chicago to get his degree in Audio Arts and Acoustics has advanced his knowledge of the technical art of engineering. These skills along with the gift of a great musical ear produce the amazing sound created by Lock Block, Inc. So now instead of just making music in our own world, we want to introduce this world to others and bring them in.
