Chances are pretty slim that two musicians, one a former drummer in a rock band, the other a guitarist in a metal/punk band, would meet at a storage facility in a small mountain community after having toured nationally for years. However, that is how the Lake Arrowhead Alt rock band known as LO-FI LiMO, met.

Nate Howell moved to California from Nashville TN and needed a storage unit to put his studio equipment for a brief time during transition. “It was there at Mountain Storage in Crestline California that I met Lew Nottke.” Howell recalls. “Lew immediately picked up the fact that I was a musician and asked me, ‘Are you a rocker or something?’ Lew and I started hanging out with me in the studio on my projects as a record producer, and Lew would play lead guitars. I asked him if he would lay down some leads for my personal music.

The two started collaborating right away and had all the elements in place. “It’s really great to collaborate with Nate.” Nottke mentions, having been the guitarist for Universal Republic group Collinz Room, former metal guitarist for Beat the Bone, (having toured with Iron Maiden), and is also featured on the Guitar Masters 2 compilation with Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana and Steve Morse. “The majority of LO-FI LiMO’s music is not quite as heavy as the music I have done in past and I feel I have grown as a musician and songwriter and this music reflects that. It’s still rock but with less aggression. Nate had the foundation laid down; I added guitar melodies to thicken it up, create builds and basically put the icing on the cake.”

Originally the band name Nate had in mind was Flint, however Lew decided to check to make sure nobody else had that name. “We quickly realized the name Flint was trademarked so I mentioned to Nate we should change the name before branding and he came up with the name Lo-Fi Limo. I loved the name right off the bat. We put an ad out for a drummer and quickly found Kari who killed it right away. Joey was a friend of Nate’s so that was already in place.

The result is their debut album titled “Promises” which contains some of catchiest songs a person can imagine. Songs like “Elephant in the Room”, “Wedding Day” and “The Favorite Son” are especially favored by internet radio outlets worldwide.
