Walking into Musikkii Cafe on Saturday night, I was immediately entranced by the smooth R&B sounds by the musical act of the night.
With a voice as smooth as melted chocolate, Loga reached out to me in a way I couldn’t turn my ears away from. Roughly 30 people attended.
His lyrics catered the inner John Mayer fan in me, as he sung with a deep soul and passion that couldn’t be replicated: “Well I just can’t sleep alone anymore/Darling won’t you please spend the night?”
As a native Kingstonian, Logan Brown has a familiarity with the city like no other.
Brown started singing and song-writing in 2014, and since has become a fixture in the Kingston community. He performed nearly every other day throughout the past summer and well into November.
Over the past few years, the artist has focused on fine-tuning his rock music to create a new foundation for his new sound to grow on.
With musical interests ranging from BB King to Ed Sheeran, Logan has a style that is distinctive to no one else but himself — it’s R&B with a funk rock twist, and soul infused with rhythmic beats.
“I want to write and touch people’s hearts and get them to close the curtains on their minds for a bit and live in the fourth dimension,” Logan said. “I’m all about peace, love and unity and that’s what my music is about.”
One of Brown’s most valued parts of being a musician is the connection present between the music and people while he’s performing.
With his affable attitude and likable personality, it’s easy to see why Logan has become so popular in Kingston.
At various points throughout the night, he invited musicians on stage to add different harmonies to his uncompromising blues and funk style.
Whether it was with the addition of another guitar or even with the simple sounds of a harmonica, there was a softness and light-heartedness in the way the different musical sounds meshed together.
You could tell by the challenging guitar riffs and strong vocals that he was leaving everything on stage.
“I am driven by an adherent love of music and a willingness to play every day, constantly writing and gigging,” he said. - Alicia Hai
The third performer of the evening was another young man, Logan Brown. At the age of 19 he plays music for a living, a tough row to hoe in today’s musical climate. An extremely confident performer, Brown plays whenever and wherever he can. Hailing from Kingston, Ontario, he throws every fibre of his being into his performance. Brown’s impassioned performance had the crowd moving and toe tapping ending with resounding applause. According to Brown, dad listened to Fleetwood Mac and mom listened to TKO….a wide range of music indeed. According to his bio, Brown “has found a way to write the music he’s always dreamed of writing and put on the shows he’s always dreamed of playing.” - Pat Blythe

Bio
Logan Brown is an acoustic guitar player and singer/song-writer unlike any you have ever heard. Blending the lazy backbeat of funk, the virtuosity of new wave acoustic, and the story telling of soul and folk he is a spectacle to witness live, the listener is taken on a journey through decades of influence and transported to the future.
Getting his start in his hometown of Kingston, Ontario, Logan donned a pseudonym that would later evolve into a full fledged character, in the same vein as Ziggy Stardust or Sasha Fierce, called NUBS. After releasing three records under this name Logan realised it was time for a change. He no longer wanted to be seen as a solo artist without his backing band, but as a solo artist with no need for a back up band.
After the release of his second EP “Spend The Night” Logan found himself putting away the bells and whistles he used to use when writing and beginning to extract all that he could out of his voice and his acoustic guitar. Instead of thrusting the listener into this brand new NUBS, Logan decided it was better to put an end to the pseudonym and continue his story without the nickname.
Logan still performs all of his music released under NUBS as well as brand new songs pushing the boundaries of what is commonly thought of on the acoustic guitar. As a full time professional musician he is always writing and learning, no two shows will be the same, the only option is to catch Logan whenever and wherever he is playing next.
