"Lind Wins 1st Runner-Up in Songwriter Competition"

Local musician, Logan Lind, just returned from North Dakota where he performed at Norsk Høstfest, one of the largest Scandinavian Festivals in North America. This was the second consecutive year that Lind was invited to perform. The 4 day festival drew over 60,000 people a day, and Lind and his band (Dr. Ron Beckel, aka: Dr. B and Don Buttermilk), played a total of 8 shows. Other festival entertainers included Kris Kristofferson, Alabama, Bill Cosby, The Oak Ridge Boys, Bjøro Håland, Frigg, The Abba Girlz and Tigirlily. Lind, who is half Norwegian, added his unique style of “Folk/Rock with a Scandinavian Edge.”
“Norsk Høstfest is a huge cultural event in North Dakota. You have people from all over the world attend – and the little town of Minot becomes an international hub for 4 days during the festival. It’s like being in another country, with all the diverse music, languages, incredible foods, and skilled artisans displaying their works,” states Lind.
After leaving Minot, Lind then traveled to Grand Forks, where he performed at the University of North Dakota. He was also a guest speaker at 3 Norwegian language classes where he spoke about his Norwegian heritage and music.
Upon returning to Arkansas, Lind performed in Eureka Springs as a finalist in the Ozark Folk Festival Songwriters Competition where he placed 1st Runner Up.

"Logan Lind to play Eikerapen Roots Festival"

Amerikaneren Logan Lind spiller denne sommeren for første gang i norge!

- Eikerapen Roots Festival Site

"Logan Lind, band members set for Norway tour"

This summer promises to be a great adventure for local musician Logan Lind and his band as they tour and play festivals in Norway.

Born in southern Norway, Lind refers to himself as a “half Norwegian/half American hybrid.” Says Lind, “It has always been a dream of mine to play in the ‘Old Country’. To make my Scandinavian debut with an experienced band of friends and a team headed by my managers (and parents) is truly a blessing.”

Lind, whose style is described as “folk/blues with a Scandinavian edge”, is backed by talented Mena locals. Ron Beckel (a.k.a. Dr. B) plays drums and percussion and Don Buttermilk is on bass guitar.

Playing the Ose Country Festival, the tour begins in Ose, Norway, where they will be sharing the stage with such greats as John Beland and Larry Patton of the Flying Burrito Brothers, along with other bands from all over Scandinavia. After Ose, they will travel to the coastal town of Arendal, where the town hosts 4 days and nights of non-stop music. They will play 2 nights at Madam Reisersen, which is a popular gathering place on the harbor. This gig has special significance for Lind since Arendal is his father’s hometown.

Their next stop is the town of Risør, where they will play at one of the biggest Wooden Boat Festivals in the world. This is one of the highlights of their tour, since the band will be performing on the main harbor stage along with some of Norway’s top artists. Not only does this festival boast great music, but also features some of the most prestigious and historical wooden boats in the world.

The final leg of the tour will take place in Åseral at Eikerapen Roots Festival. This festival is an international roots music festival that features musicians from all over the world, along with several Grammy winners.

On their return to the U.S., Lind and the band will head to Minot, North Dakota to play the “Norsk Høstfest”, the biggest Scandinavian festival in North America. They will play 8 shows over the course of the festival, which draws over 60,000 people. Other acts performing include Vince Gill, Olivia Newton-John, Ronnie Milsap, Dierks Bentley, Jeff Foxworthy, the Oak Ridge Boys, and several popular Scandinavian artists.

“I’m very grateful for the love and support of family, friends, and the local fans of Mena. I’m also thankful for Mr. Mick Riley of Crossover Music, who has been an essential part of our live show and production team,” says Lind. “I couldn’t have done this without the encouragement and prayers of all the people God has put in my life.”

Logan and the band are currently in the studio recording a new CD which will be released for the Norway tour. You can catch their show at the upcoming Lum & Abner Festival, Saturday, June 2nd, at 7:00 pm and you can also follow Lind’s tour on Facebook and Twitter.

Folk/Rock with a Scandinavian Edge = Logan Lind

With an original mixture of southern inspired Folk/Rock laced with Scandinavian embellishment, Logan Lind is carving out his own musical niche. A half Norwegian/half American hybrid armed with a weathered guitar, powerful raspy vocals, and songs full of depth and heart make this singer/songwriter a force to be recognized!

Logan has been rocking crowds with his raw energy and conviction since he was 14. I want to give 110% whether I'm playing for a crowd of one or thousands. Its unforgivable to waste a God given gift. I want to keep it real!

Born in Southern Norway and raised in a small railroad town in the Southern United States, he picked up the guitar at age 11. His first chords were taught to him by neighbor, the late Jack Collier, the man responsible for giving Merle Haggard his start. His advice to Logan was, Practice till your fingers bleed. That's exactly what he did!

It wasn't long before Logan began writing and performing his own music, releasing his first album at 15. His music began to receive airplay in America, Norway, Belgium, and England. He was featured on Denver, Colorado's channel 9 News in 2008, and showcased on Allan-Turner Wards radio program (Hope FM in Bournemouth, England), in 2010. Mr. Ward likened Logan's 2010 Single Lift Me Up to the stylistic tones of Johnny Cash's American recordings, stating Check out my mate Logan Lind! Hes truly Cash-tastic!! His unique gritty style caught the attention of Nashville's David Malloy (Producer of over 41 # one hit singles) who invited Logan to come play on his Nashville Hootenanny Show. Logan played and received an encore. Three months later Logan won the local round of the Texaco Country Showdown in west/central Arkansas with his original, southern inspired song Train.

The summer of 2012 proved that Logan could be accepted in the land of his birth. He returned to his roots, touring Southern Norway. Among the festivals he performed at were Ose County Fest, Eikerapen Roots Festival, and Risr Trebtfestival (one of the biggest wooden boat festivals in the world). Upon his return to the U.S., he performed at Norsk Hstfest, the largest Scandinavian festival in North America (drawing over 60,000 people per day).

Logan will be returning to Norway this summer for a very special tour. He will be traveling with the historic emigration ship, Restauration, as it sails into harbors all along the Norwegian coastline where Logan will be playing a series of concerts that honors the spirit of the Norwegian emigrant.

A resident of 2 countries, Logan now shares his time between Norway and the U.S. When asked what the future holds, he replies, By God, more music! Something that's here to stay.
