Biography

LOGAN: A FIVE PIECE BLUES-ROCK-MACHINE WITH A WHOLE LOTTA SOUL. Like anything else that's worth talking about, the entity that would be known as Logan was conceived in a local Boston watering hole over several pitchers of Pabst Blue Ribbon. After plenty of writing, rehearsing, more writing and late night jam sessions - the act hit the stage. The rest is history.
Logan is front-man Josh Baird, guitarist Ryan Karp, keys-player Mark D'Alfonso, bassist Seth Rivers and drummer Jeff Graham. Logan prides itself on vintage grooves with a modern edge. Each member comes from a variety of influences, musical training and experiences that brings something different to the table. The fusion of different styles and personalities has allowed Logan to explore and create music that will get anything with a pulse to shake some ass. With solid rhythm-section grooves supporting searing guitar lines and soulful Hammond Organ riffs, the stage is set for Baird to let his bluesy-voice guide the rock-ensemble.
Over the past 4 years, Logan has played stages all over the East Coast and has been recognized for their craft when nominated for a Boston Music Award and winning Northeastern University's Battle of the Bands. Logan has rocked the stage at Nectar's in Burlington-VT, Sully's in Hartford-CT, the Iron Horse in Northampton-MA, Tammany Hall in Worcester-MA, and both the Lion's Den and Kenny's Castaways in NYC. At home in Boston, Logan has appeared at the Paradise, Axis, Bill's Bar, Felt, played the NEMO-Boston music convention, Rowapalooza River Fest, and hosted a weekly residency at Harper's Ferry with two different opening acts each night.
Through their travels, the Logan's have shared the stage with great musicians and artists from all genres. Mofro, State Radio, Gavin Degraw, Spookie Daly Pride, The Brakes, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, Sam Kininger of Soulive, NBFB, and Audible Mainframe to name a few. Recording throughout 2005 in both Boston's Q-Division and Shelter Island Studios in NYC, Logan has teamed up with producer David Seitz (Black Crowes, Gov't Mule, Aqualung, Medeski Martin and Wood) for their first full length album set to be released in the late spring of 2006. Logan has reeled-in a solid fan base with their commitment to making music for folks who want danceable rock with both soul and passion.
As Logan continues to grow, the band promises to stick to the rock and move every body in the room. Check out Logan and don't forget to bring a belt.
