Bio
Lokum was formed in August 2008 to play dance music of the Near East using authentic instruments and oriental modes (makams) with a strong improvisational component (taksim). We sing in Turkish but play music that people from countries as diverse as Greece, Bulgaria and Armenia would recognize, with an infectious beat that anyone could dance to.
