Toronto Tonight

Toronto Tonight
Words and music by Bob Smith

I've seen the rocky mountains and Muskoka's rocky shores
And tasted prairie wheat right in the field.
On the main street of Sioux Lookout I window-shopped the stores
And my feet have trod the Great Canadian Shield.

The Canadian National Railway took me East out to St. John
And Vancouver from the air's a lovely sight.
I've travelled this wide country and like every place I've gone
But I love to be right where I am tonight.

Chorus:
Toronto tonight, with your city lights bright,
And the hustle and the bustle of the big city life.
It's a happy place for me and it feels so very right,
Back home in Toronto, Toronto tonight.

I've heard about this country in the songs of Stompin' Tom
And Gordie Lightfoot in his folksy way.
And now I've seen just where they got their inspiration from
There's another song I'd like to play.

I've shivered by a glacier and canoed on Lake Louise
Had dinner in Banff Springs by candlelight.
I've travelled over snow and over water on my skis
But Toronto is my home, I'm back tonight.

Chorus:
Toronto tonight, with your city lights bright.
And the hustle and the bustle of the big city life.
It's a happy place for me and it feels so very right,
Back home in Toronto, Toronto tonight.
