Bio
Longboy is a band from the suburbs of Sacramento, California. Blending a variety of styles, the band has developed something of a surf-alt-indie-rock sound with a little folk thrown in from time to time. Founded in 2019 by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Matt Gandler, and guitarist and vocalist Viv Kuratomi, they converted Matt's closet into a recording set-up and self produced an EP along with a follow up single. Following this, Matt and Viv began to turn their attention to playing live. Shady's coffee in Roseville, which hosted small shows along with open mic nights, quickly became a second home to the band after being offered an open invitation to perform whenever they liked. Most notably, Longboy performed a set at Holy Diver as part of their community showcase shortly before Covid-19 shut down live shows. With a lot of free time opened up to them by the quarantine, Matt and Viv continued to write what would become their upcoming EP. During summer of 2020, they invited drummer Keaton Brasse, who had played with them live, to formally join the band for the upcoming EP along with guitarist Ryan Penkala and bassist Chris Gai. In August of 2020, the band recorded their second EP, slated to release in October of this year.
