Bio

Longjon la Flecha's heavy groove rich with sonics and storytelling provide a latinesque freshness to the alternative indie scene.

Formed in 2007 by Dario Rossetti-Bonell and Carlos Chirinos, the band explores roots music from a cinematic perspective. Dario recorded a solo album under his own name for EMI classics of Spanish and South American guitar music, before recording in many Hollywood films scores, most notably City of Angels, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Love Labours Lost and the Oscar winning soundtrack Shakespeare In Love. His versatility across genres has led him to perform and record with artists as diverse as John Williams and Sting. Carlos is an anthropologist and ethnomusicologist who has researched the music and culture of indigenous communities in rainforests. Without replicating their music traditions, he transfers the essence of this indigenous music into the band's compositions and live performance.

The band's first single "Descarga Confusa" has been played by DJ's in clubs in London and around the world and has featured twice on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Radio show on BBC1.

THE BAND
Longjon La Flecha is a 4 piece of outstanding instrumentalists. Their self penned music takes descarga funk to the realms of storytelling psych.

Using a minimal set up but still obtaining a unique deep sound, their shows have been causing a stir in the UK in performances at Lovebox Festival, Notting Hill Arts Club, South Bank, Passing Clouds, Cafe Cairo and Global (Copenhagen) just to name a few.

Their self produced first album was recorded in Dario's old loft in Clapton E5. All the instruments were layed out in the middle of the vast room and the sessions evolved naturally in a relaxed way. Instruments used included electric tres, baritone guitar, a genuine Korg MS20, melodion, kalimbas, charango, vihuela, toyo-sikus, wood flutes alonside the traditional drum kit, congas and bongos. Mixing influences from descarga to krautrock, dub to punk, afro-latin roots music to PFunk with jazz and Italian horror soundtracks.

Although the live band is stripped down to its bare bones, don't be fooled by the traditional power trio and vocals set up. They are able to produce a big tone due large in part to the drop tunings and live samples used on stage.
