Come on the Journey, why don't you?

Biography

“What's going on” That is the song that resonates most with LLF, as that is the daily question. War, greed, crime, love, compassion, and desire...all things we face in today's world.
What are we gonna do about it??

LLF does what they do best: Write about it, sing about it, and get the word out. It's not all gloom and doom though, the message is HOPE. Hope for the goodness of the human race to shine through, hope for change and most of all hope for love.

Led by Berklee College of Music graduate, Kristen Long, LLF combines folk, southern roots, jazz and pop music to create a unique sound of their own. Kristen's roots are in New England, being a trained opera singer since age 12, then stemming off into blues, rock, folk and jazz, she brings a theatrical yet raw feel to the songs and lyrics she writes, on keys and vocals. "Salty" Walt's ability to play rhythms and feels from around the world create an amazing drum/percussion experience, even breaking out the washboard at times!! James Cook on guitar/vocals brings the flavor of the South to the mix with his driving delta blues rhythms, aching slide guitar, and relevant lyrics.

Kristen Long is a Berklee College of Music graduate who has played all over the country, including NYC, Boston, Miami, Montana, Nashville, etc. Her album "Shoebox Memories" was produced in Nashville, TN and has had great reviews. Kristen has had an extensive music and acting career, thus far. Along with playing countless jazz clubs and piano bars, some of her most notable performances include, singing the National Anthem for several major league baseball games-Marlins, Mets, Orioles and Twins-,she has played and sung the for former President of Israel, Moshe Katsav, twice, she has played at the world famous CBGB's in NYC, and was part of the cast of Laffing Matterz in Fort Lauderdale, FL for 2 years. Her first show with Walt was the Songsters Concert in Miami Beach, FL, where they were joined by some of South Florida's most recognized songwriters

"Salty" Walt has been playing drums for over 20 years.... Most recently he played with The Dead Valentines-a swing/rockabilly band-whose credits include Sunfest '08, where they opened for The Mighty Mighty Bostones. They also enjoyed radio play on 93.1 The Buzz in South Florida. Other past bands include Shakey Deville, with whom he recorded an album in Nashville, TN. With Kristen he has performed all over the United States, including the Songsters Concert in Miami Beach, FL.

Lyrics

Dusty Bible and a Bottle of Booze

Written By: Walter Brewer and Kristen Long

Dusty Bible and a Bottle of Booze
Is all I got, I got nothing to loose
Only thing I got left to choose is
Dusty Bible and a Bottle of Booze

Crack pipes, red lights, beggers and thieves
Every single thing a tortured soul could need
To breath, to feed the need to be
Every single thing a tortured sould could need

Dusty Bible and a Bottle of Booze
is all I got, I got nothing to lose
Only thing I have left to choose is
Dusty Bible and a Bottle of Booze.

Stained glass, bread past, Cross and Koran
Rubbing on the belly of a big fat man
The plan, the hand your dealt by Man
Every single thing a tortured sould could stand.

Chorus.

The Journey

Written By: Kristen Long

I can't paint without a vision
or sing without a soul
I'm counting every step I take
Along the open road

There's a man who lives among the trees
And he guides me on my way
Through wind and rain and fire and sleet
Beside me he will stay

We journey cross this thing called time
These moments we do share
Though many different ways we speak
There's music everywhere

So with this common thread I seek
To live among the dead
Through harmony and melody
Forever in your head

Indigo Jack

Written By: Walter Brewer and Kristen Long

Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back

Let me tell you a little story 'bout a man named Jack
Couldn't seem to shake the blues, or the sheriff off his back
They've a long way to catch him, but if they do
They'll be hell to pay, never going away, let me tell you what he'll do

Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Said Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, he ain't never comin back

Well two weeks ago he thought he had a friend
Was the voice that lived inside his head and he couldn't make amends
So he swung into the air and he ducked and he missed
Was his own fate he sealed, with a cold blooded kiss

Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Said Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, he ain't never comin back

Well he got to where he's going
But can't remember where he'd been
Now came the time, he realized
He'd been running from within

Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack never come back
Said Indigo Jack, Indigo Jack, he ain't never comin back

Black Gold

Written By: Words by Kristen Long

Can't understand
Greed of man
We need a plan give us a hand

Fire on the ocean
Oil on the sand
and I don't see why
Things need to be this way

Everybody blames the other guy
We all close our eyes
But the blame lies in all man

I can't understand
the greed of man
we need a plan
give us a hand
