Biography

You finally found us!!

Long Lost Friend formed when Singer/Songwriter Kristen Long needed a friend most. She had just left an abusive marriage...so naturally she turned to music. As a Berklee College of Music graduate, she new that music is the Long Lost Friend that can always be counted on. Pretty soon, she met "Salt Shaker" Walt Brewer, when his former band, The Dead Valentines, needed a fill in singer for a gig. Their styles fused so perfectly together, they new it was a match. It felt like coming home to find a Long Lost Friend waiting for you. Kristen and "Salty" formed a duo, performing all over South Florida, and then taking it on the road as far as Montana and New England. When in Boston, they met Timmi Gammon and Stephen Eshner, while playing in the pit band for "Oliver". The musical connection could not be denied...again that feeling of finding a Long Lost Friend was there and it was decided, they would form a quartet. The band now resides in Gulf Shores, AL for the summer season and looks forward to taking things on the road very soon.

Set Me Free

Written By: Kristen Long

I found a life outside of you
You thought you'd tie me down
With your lies
Look who's sad and blue
Looks like I've won this time

I've taken charge of my own life
I won't be home
You won't have a wife
Took a fresh start
I start tonight
And I'll find my way, alright

Baby it's over
We've reached the end
Just how much longer
Did you think I'd spend
With a man
Who doesn't understand

I ran into you today
You said "hello"
You asked if I've been ok
I told you "no"
I thought I told you to
Leave me the hell alone
I guess you can't get it through that
Thick skull bone

Baby it's over
We've reached the end
Just how much longer
Did you think I'd spend
With a man
Who doesn't understand

I told you it was over
Between you and I

I crossed every T
I dotted every I

What part about no
Don't you understand

I laid it out all in
The palm of your hand

Release your grasp
Let me breathe
Oh, baby, set me free

Release your grasp
Let me breathe
Set me free
Set me free
Set me free
Set me free

Highway 9

Written By: Kristen Long

Wake up in the dead of night
Was that real, or just a dream?
Oh that sight, in my head
I lived a whole life in this bed

Get out of bed, put on some tea
Brush my teeth, oh silly me
I believed that it was true
I believed I still had you

I'm taking a drive on Highway 9
Hudson in my view
Looking up at the skyline
Not a trace
Not a trace of you

I watch the news, I read the times
Step outside look up at the sky
I know you're in a good place
It's just so far away

I'm taking a drive on Highway 9
Hudson in my view
Looking up at the skyline
Not a trace
Not a trace of you

In The Bottle

Written By: Kristen Long

My sign says "God Bless You"
"I'm hungry, I need food"
I ask you for some change
I feel so low

Is this really me?
Living out here in the streets
How did this happen
So fast?

And, oh I've wasted so much time
Every step I took was all mine
I chose to live my life
In The Bottle
Mmmm, In The Bottle

Now I hang my head
I'm sittin' on my cardboard bed
My thoughts just turn to grey
Today

I used to have a wife
But I left her one night
For a pretty little girl named
Tanguerey

And, oh, I've wasted so much time
Every step I took was all mine
I chose to live my life
In The Bottle
Mmmm, In The Bottle

And, oh I've wasted so much time
Every step I took was all mine
I chose to live my life
In The Bottle
Mmmm, In The Bottle
Mmmm, In The Bottle

Shoebox Memories

Written By: Kristen Long and Emily Bass

Step inside, don't try to hide
There's something you should see
Little smile, bright shining eyes
Are Shoebox Memories

This once was true
What happened to you?
Why did you have to leave?
My life was simple then
Now my heart can't mend
My Shoebox Memories

Coming to this place, makes me
Finally face, what's left of me
We had no time to grieve
No means to leave
Fear became our anchor
And we don't know how to get back

Creaking floors held civil wars
Nightmares haunted dreams
A stranger's hand had clouded all
My Shoebox Memories

Coming to this place, makes me
Finally face, what's left of me
We had no time to grieve
No means to leave
Fear became our anchor
And we don't know how to get back

Step inside, don't try to hide
There's something you should see
My life was simple then
Now my heart can't mend
My Shoebox Memories

My life was simple then
Now my heart can't mend
My Shoebox Memories

Moon In The Daylight Sky

Written By: Kristen Long

They say "count your blessings"
They say "it's not so bad"
But who are they to try to tell you
when you just had the worst day
you've ever had

You can't erase the sadness
You can't hold back the tears
You're wondering, when will it end
You don't want to face the years

But don't let the moon in the daylight sky, pass you by
or, let the leaves falling from the trees, escape your dreams

Time gets away from you
Time can't stand still
You're trying hard to stop the change
But you know, you never will

So, don't let the moon in the daylight sky, pass you by
Or let the leaves falling from the trees, escape your dreams

We can't escape our fate
No matter how hard we try
When the clouds fill up
The sky will always cry

So, don't let the moon in the daylight sky, pass you by
Or let the leaves falling from the trees, escape your dreams

Let the moon in the daylight sky
open your eyes
Let the wind blowing off the sea
set you free

Cruel

Written By: Kristen Long

I'm not, gonna be what you want me to be
I'm not gonna change
You better get a good look at me
I'm walking away

I'm not, gonna be what you want me to be
I'm not gonna change
You better get a good look at me I'm, I'm, I'm

Tell me, baby, what can I say to make you change your mind
Everything you asked of me, I did
I was so blind

Tell me, baby, why do I feel like such a fool
I gave you all of me and you
treated me so cruel

I tell you, baby, I will not live like this
Tired of living my life, as your bitch

Stepping on my dreams, my hopes,
my faith and my peace
Let me ask you something, baby,
How do you like this?

I'm not gonna be what you want me to be
I'm not gonna change
You better get a good look at me
I'm walking away

I'm not gonna be what you want me to be
I'm not gonna change
You better get a good look at me
I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm walking away
