The band sees it influences it that music and the 'Brit pop" that followed it. Performing its own compositions in English. Long Play with entertain and inspire you. The band has finished its debuting studiowork titled "Being Nowhere" containing 10 of their own songs and lyrics. (Album available to listen at: http://soundcloud.com/bekeiistvan/sets/long-play-33-1-3-promo) At the end of September we will introduce our first official video of Being Nowhere. Some secret about our lyrics: Freaky Guy: This is one of our first songs with our band, but originally we made it ready before we formed the band itself. Békei István the band leader (singer and guitarist) made the song and me as his girlfriend (Halmavánszki Anita) wrote the lyrics, like in the "Song and Lyrics" movie, just we had the relationship earlier and afterward we started to work as "song and lyrics hand-in-hand". As we made some songs with lyrics together and showed the to our friends, we found out that we had to make the next step to establish a band, so in 2009 we collected some musicians and started to work. I became the manager of the band also for arranging gigs and press relating to our band. The lyrics is about the band leader himself as he is a "Freaky Guy" in real life and it was the first impression which came to me for the song. The main character is the kind of Guy who can not really belong to anywhere, he just lives for today and without any tether in the world. He is aimless, but happy as always something new and interested happens during his way. This is the short story of our band leader's real personality from my point of view, as I see Him. Childish Dreams: This songs was created already in the band as the basic chords were borned out of our bass guitarist Fehér Zoltán's mind. As He showed us these basic chords, the band leader Békei István created a song out it and I simply wrote the lyrics based on the character of the bass guitarist. The song lyrics is about his life experince, as he had had a very hard childhood. Because of His hard childhood and growing-up, His dreams and attempts were mostly failed to break through. Nevertheless He still a very positive person, so this inspired me to write the lyrics about Him with a very positive outcome, that even if most of Your dreams will never be fullfilled, You could always find new ones to try to achieve. You must think always in an optimistic way as this helps You live for the next day. So it is also a true story about a person's life. Long Play 33 1/3

Freaky Guy by BékeiIstván

Q: Who are you called?

Long Play 33 ?. The band’s name refers to the shiny black vinyl records of 60's and 70's that carried the roots of British Rock Music. The band sees it influences it that music and the ‘Brit pop” that followed it.

Q: If you could use a tagline of less than 20 words to describe your music and who you are what would it be?

Long Play 33 ?. is a hungarian britpop-rock/indie band, performing its own composition in English. We’re musicians from different music line-ups and our mission is to entertain with our special and nowdays rare three part-singing performance. That’s why we ‘re called as the hungarian Beatles. Ooops, it is impossible to describe it with less than 20 words…

Q: What is your musical background?

All the members were mainly raised somehow under the influence of Brit music. To add more color everyone has his own color from other musical styles and branches which we also like to listen to (or maybe also to play).

István Békei – Lead vocal and guitars

(bass guitarist and vocalist of The BlackBirds hungarian Beatles tribute band and FG-4 – Illés and Fonográf tribute band)

Zsolt Derecskei – Vocal, Keyboards, guitar

(keyboardist, guitarist and singer of The BlackBirds hungarian Beatles tribute band and FG-4 – Illés and Fonográf tribute band)

Zoltán Fehér „Szegecs” – Bass guitar

(Bass guitarist of FÉK hungrian rock band and UC2 hungarian Pink Floyed tribute band)

Balázs Bakó – Drum and Vocal

(Singer of Supersonic hungarian indie/rock band)

Additional member:

Anita Halmavánszki – Lyrics writer and the manager of the band

Istvan Bekei - band leader, guitars, lead vocal - Long Play 33 1/3

Being Nowhere by BékeiIstván

Q: How was 2010 for you?

LP - 2010 was the preparation for long term, as we formed the band in the second half of 2009. The band made its debut in May and from September the band is performing actively. (All our main performances and other important events can be found under: http://www.longplay3313.hu/en/concert.html)

Q: Who inspires you musically?

The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Goo Goo Dolls, U2, Oasis, Verve, The Killers any many more from the ’60 – ’70s great bands

Q: Which modern day artists do you look up to?

The Gallagher brothers, Paul McCartney, Richard Ashcroft, Bernard Buttler, Bono.

Q: Is there anyone you would like to collaborate or gig with?

Sure, Jimi Hendrix would be just fine. But seriously, we would be glad to gig with The Killers, U2, Artcic Monkeys or with other famous indie/britpop bands at present.

Zoltan Feher - bass - Long Play 33 1/3

I’m Free by BékeiIstván

Q: What songs are on your ipod at the moment?

István - There’s a lot of different music on my music player. J. The last one I uploaded the album Urban Hymns.

Zsolt -- My music player is being repaired at the moment, but what is worth to mention is a George Harrison concert performed Live in japan with Eric Clapton in the early ‘90s.

Balázs - Lately I got heavily influenced by the music of Bernard Buttler, but also listen a lot to early stuff like David Bowie, Pink Floyd on top.

Szegecs – Just refreshed my music library with the WHO’s third album.

Q: What is your creative process for creating a track?

The tracks are usually created as the following: somehow the base chords or a groovy riff is created, and more or less the build up of the song. After this more or less the melody and its rhythm is written. The third step is to write the lyrics. When it’s all done we refine and polish the different elements to each other. Of course it happened sometimes that the song was a dream or the entire song was created all the other way around…

Q: What’s more important, melody or lyrics?

There is no one without the other. This kind of music demands both of them. Without melody it would be called rap, without lyrics it would be some boring background music for a TV show, but come on! This is Brit-pop!

Q: Where are you based?

Budapest, Hungary. To be more exact some of the members are from the countryside who moved to Budapest, but we consider the band a Budapest based one, coming from a special location of Budapest called Cool Valley (Huvösvölgy). At least we’re cool this way.

Zsolt Derecskei - keyboard, vocal - Long Play 33 1/3

Ocean Inside by BékeiIstván

Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?

Budapest is one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe. Some people compare it to Vienna, some to Prague but it has it’s own unique atmosphere with the Danube divides the city to a hilly and a plain part connected with elegant long bridges. Of course the city is busy like all the big cities and sometimes you need a break to go out and be nowhere in a tiny little hole, but afterwards you have the home sick and wish to be back there. Still we have the nicest women in the World!

Q: What are you currently working on?

The band just finished shooting its first music video for the song released on the album called Being Nowhere (the song is also called Being Nowhere). Now it’s in post processing phase and will be released in the second half of September. After the release we focus on making the second album which we plan to finish for the end of 2011.

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?

The biggest thing was to play on one of the most famous festival in Hungary called EFOTT. To here only a selection can be chosen to perform. We were one of them to play. An not to forget our performance with some of our songs on the Hungarian Nation TV (MTV1) last month. You can see the videos here:

Q: What are you hoping to achieve in 2011?

We already lay some basics in 2011. Turned up in several famous domestic and international radio stations and also TV broadcasting companies, but we don’t want to stop now and make an even bigger preparation for 2012.

Q: Do you have any gigs or shows that you’d like to tell us about?

Well sure, a lot… recently we are more into local gigs in Hungary, but we are keen on getting some gigs arranged abroad latest early next year, so more details coming soon.

Q: What do you do to relax?

István – Composing my new songs for the next album and beging to my girlfriend (our lyrics writer) to finish the lyrics which are just waiting for Her. J And of course I’m searching for rare LPs on the market.

Zsolt – Practising on my accoustic guitar or piano and trying to find some new sound to our next album.

Balázs -- Tuning my drums, I have certain moments when it gets close to what I want, so meantime you can always paint the fence.

Szegecs – Sleeping…as this is what I would need the most nowdays.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to let our readers know about?

Sure, we just finished the shooting of our first official video for the track Being Nowhere. Video will be soon available on both our website and Facebook but surf the Youtube for Longplay 33 1/3!

"Long Play 331/3 between The Beatles and Oasis"

The Long Play 33 1/3 is a britpop-rock band formed in the second half of 2009 in Budapest (Hungary). The all hungarian members are currently István Békei - Guitars/ Vocals, Zsolt Derecskei - Keyboards/ Guitar/Vocals, Fehér Zoltán - Bass, Balázs Bakó - Drums and pecussion/ Vocals.

The band’s name refers to the shiny black vinyl records of 60's and 70's that reproduced the roots of British Rock Music. Long Play 33 1/3 sees it’s influences within that music era and continue to follow it. Performing their own compositions in English.

The band’s latest album is entitled “Being Nowhere” and contains 10 tracks. From the Beatlish “Freaky Guy” to the more Procol Harem sounding “Childish Dreams”. My favorite in absolute is “Soulmates”, which could so easily be a track lifted off a brand new Oasis album, but then it wouldn’t be out of place on any The Hollies album from the 60's either. This is the quintessence of this Hungarian band. The sound is fresh and clean but with that oh-so-familiar sound ringing in your ear.

If you like lots of acoustic guitars, vocal harmonies and sweet melodies over rock solid rhythms, don’t miss this old school rock-pop sounding band. They might come from afar, but their music is as authentic as the vinyl their band name represents.

Long Play 33 1/3 are also the first band to be invited onto the new Jamspere Music Network platform at www.community.jamsphere.com
