"After six years, Longway gets a record deal and a spot opening for punk rock legends"

With aggressive, punk-rock vocal delivery and energetic guitars, Longway pays tribute to the rock and roll greats who came before it while simultaneously paving the way for the new wave of punk rock. CDBaby.com refers to the band's sound as "rock 'n roll punk that will kick you're a**."

Longway was formed in late 2001; however, the current lineup of Brian Longway ,vocals and guitar; MikeyStein, drums; Travis Ferguson, bass; and Trevor Jackson, guitar, has been in place since January.

The end of the revolving lineup is clearly a relief to Longway's current members.

"We've had members in the past who weren't committed as musicians; now everyone has good ideas and we don't have to worry about who's playing what during shows," said Brian.

The other members of the band agree wholeheartedly.

"This is my second go-around with the band," said MikeyStein. "The camaraderie is the best it has ever been and the chemistry we have just works."

Longway was signed two months ago by Old Shoe Records, a label based in Orange. The band held a release party on Oct. 24 for their Old Shoe debut album, "Come 'n Get It."

The members of Longway have a great appreciation for their label.

"Old Shoe is amazing," said Jackson. "Anything we've needed, anything we've wanted to do as a band, they've made sure it's gotten done. They treat their bands like family; they truly believe in them."

The process of recording and

mastering their album took eight months.

"I did things with my vocals [on this album] that I've never done before," said Brian. "There is a ton of life in this record, and I'm excited to put it out there."

Longway will begin taking its explosive live show on the road next month.

"We will be playing with a little band called Bad Religion in Hawaii next month," said Brian.

The band burst into laughter, showing their humility and enthusiasm to be playing with one of their idols.

"I almost cried when we got the call asking 'Hey, do you want to get on a plane and play with Bad Religion in Hawaii?' I couldn't believe it," said MikeyStein.

Being on the road will be a new experience for this current lineup, who has not toured together yet.

"We're looking forward to experiencing this lineup together," said Brian. "It will be cool to play outside of the SoCal scene, too, because it's so oversaturated; everyone's in a band! When you play shows in smaller towns, it's more of a big deal for the audience."

Longway will also be shooting its first music video next month for the song "Fade to Grey."

"We're really excited. This year has been really good for us," said Brian. "We've had the chance to do things we've never done before, like make a music video."

The band hopes to continue touring five years from now, including overseas.

"I'd like to be touring the U.S. and Europe twice a year," said MikeyStein.

Long way is both appreciative and humble about where it is headed.

"I see these people at the shows, and I think, 'Are they here for us? Are we a real band?' I hope we continue growing as a band and working hard," said Brian. "It's what I want to do for a living. I want to do this until our wheelchairs rust!" - The Poly Post

"LONGWAY TRIUMPHANTLY RETURNS HOME WITH THE VANS WARPED TOUR, CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF JUNKIE"

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – AUGUST 20, 2009 – After a whirlwind 2008 that included a chance meeting with Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, LONGWAY has emerged from the niche of Orange County to become one of the nation’s most promising punk rock outfits. As the first confirmed act of this summer’s Vans Warped Tour from Kevin Lyman directly, LONGWAY has continued to cement a rabid fan base along every stop of the tour in support of the band’s Old Shoe Record’s follow-up release JUNKIE. Recently named one of the top 10 must watch bands of the tour by About.com with other genre staples such as The Bouncing Souls, NoFX and Gallows, LONGWAY was described as, “a bunch of tattooed California punks who play passionate street punk with a hint of rockabilly.”

JUNKIE, was recorded in just three weeks time in Sacramento during a brief, albeit, productive break between touring runs. Fresh off their trek with friends, Danish pyschobilly trio, Horrorpops, frontman Brian Longway along with guitarist Trevor Jackson and drummer Mikey Pettengill entered the studio to record the collection of songs that result from the band’s very busy preceeding year. Brian Longway explains, “We did a ton of touring in a relatively short amount of time. The road really gives you a different perspective on everything. Junkie is a collection of that.” The record also includes a special guest appearance by Patricia Day on the single “Honey.”

Longway will be available for interviews during the final two days of the 15th annual Vans Warped Tour. To arrange interviews, obtain further information or to request a copy of JUNKIE for review, please email Ramon@oldshoerecords.com

LONGWAY

From dive bars to the main stage, the Orange County punk rock ensemble LONGWAY have established the kind of reputation long forgotten in the industry. Equipped with an unparalleled work ethic and the talent to justify their motivation, the sound is no frills punk rock with little regard for a “scene.” Linking up with Southern California punk label Old Shoe Records, LONGWAY continued their momentum by celebrating the release of their highly anticipated follow-up, JUNKIE. Forging an appreciation for straight ahead rock music laced with punk rock swagger, the band’s sound would not only generate a healthy following in Southern California, but as the band pounded the highways, LONGWAY touched countless cities crafting their own niche all over the nation.

The Record

Exploring the realities of life, love, and relationships as a working class collective of musicians, JUNKIE, is an impressive 12-track addition to LONGWAY’s already stellar catalog of work. Enlisting the guidance of famed producer Cameron Webb, LONGWAY once again assumed the role of producer to create their best example of musical competence to date. A potent balance of energy and sincerity, tracks like “Rolling Wheels”, “Honey” (featuring Patricia Day of Horrorpops), and the title track, “Junkie”, serve as a reminder of an era of music that meshed poignant lyrics with incendiary instrumentation. Finely tuned on the road and unanimously praised, JUNKIE, served as a catalyst for LONGWAY’s ascending popularity and emergence as the must see band on this summer’s Vans Warped Tour.

The Road

After an unprecedented year that included their first nationwide tour and the release of their Old Shoe Records debut, LONGWAY managed to never miss a step throughout 2009 and actually gained momentum. Logging thousands of tour miles, LONGWAY would begin this year with Massachusetts’ finest, Far From Finished. Almost immediately after, the band was recruited to join Warped Tour vets and friends, HORRORPOPS on another run across the country to sold-out venues coast to coast. Upon their return, LONGWAY would travel to Sacramento, CA to record JUNKIE, in a brief, albeit productive break from touring. True to the band’s unscathed work ethic, LONGWAY would finish with the record only to immediately return to the road for another summer on the Vans Warped Tour. Watching their crowds go from dozens to hundreds across the nation, it was evident that the band was no longer a Southern California phenomenon, but undoubtedly here to stay.

The Future

After having already been invited back for the 2010 installment of punk rock summer camp on the Vans Warped Tour the future for LONGWAY not only looks bright, but promises to test the band’s drive. Continuing to write, consistent touring throughout the year, and a dedication to their fans that is unparalleled in the business, LONGWAY has managed to do what many other bands fail to do, progress. Establishing friendships with countless personalities in the genre, LONGWAY has not only proven successful as a musical force, but has developed a network of influence that will augment the band’s drive and creative passion. Aiming for the stars and remaining rooted in their identity, LONGWAY remains powerful, passionate, and truly punk.
