"northeastintune review"

There is something about a girl with a guitar that screams power. Lonnie Rathie's style of "bastard folk-country-rock" as she likes to call it, has been exploding onto to the New York City independent circuit. A Native of Calgary, Lonnie was fortunate enough to grow up in a household where music was significant. With her 'face your fear, live your dream' attitude, she set out for the big apple hoping to attain her goals. The end result is a mellow wave of love songs with a rock and roll edge to them. Lonnie is no stranger to being a star. She has appeared on the TV series "15/Love" as a girl guitar player and performed at some of the most renowned venues, including the C-Note and CBGB's. Lonnie's ensemble consists of Aaron Brooks on drums and percussion and Bob Goetz on bass. Combined with Lonnie's amazing songwriting talent and her ability to connect with her audience she was appropriately given the resemblance to Natalie Merchant with a touch of Chriss Hynde. Lonnie Rathie's songs are unmistably easy to identify with. She sings from the heart and her passion speaks through her lyrics. "One In A Million" is an ode to herself. She is one in a million. One has to love how this artist describes herself in such a positive light. "Heaven" has a bit of a country flavor to it. It is rare nowadays that you hear someone praising death. We should all be so lucky to have so much faith and be sure that heaven awaits us. "I'll be so grateful that my number has come up, I will not question my maker" Not sure how many people would agree with that. A majority of people came into this world kicking and screaming and plan to leave the same way. Upon hearing this song one might think she is crazy, or fearless. The extremely mellow "Travelling ALone" is about independence. It exudes being comfortable in your own skin and not being afraid to stand on your own two feet. It is a real anthem to women around the world. Growing up in Calgary, Lonnie also shares a love for hockey. "My big dream is to sing the anthems at a game someday" We'll be right there with you Lonnie. by Erica Freeman Northeast Intune Magazine - northeast intune

Bio

Simple and strong. Minimal but effective riffs and concentrated drum beats make Lonnie Rathie's music a complete package. Excellent songwriting and an amazing stage presence makes her band a standout. Actual radio friendly songs that still have angst and bitterness sets her apart from the pop crowd. Her styles range from folk to all out Rock and Roll and saves you from the sameness of other artists. Intelligent lyrics don't hurt either and there is always at least one song that you can easily identify with.
