Lookdown Moon

Based in Duluth, Minnesota, Ann (Forsman) Loop and Jason Loop began writing songs and playing music together in 1999 and formed a group then called ’Mayfly’. The two began performing as an acoustic duo but would later play with a full band, while staying true to their original sound. Their music has been described as a fluid, ever-evolving sound. Songs that are "skeletal, acoustic-based" with a lead singer that "defies comparison and destroys them with her smooth, soulful voice and with lyrics that jump from anger to loss to beauty".
Lookdown Moon laid down material for their debut full length LP - which was released in October of 2007. The album is an eclectic mix of sounds and genres, with elements of rock, jazz, alt-country, folk, and blues. It doesn't take long for listeners to be pleasantly surprised that the sound of Lookdown Moon is a unique and truly invigorating blend of originality. Lookdown Moon has been praised for the ‘intriguing’ lyrics written by Jason, and Ann‘s ‘powerful’ vocals on their current release: “Indeed, it’s that powerful voice of hers that carries much of the forthcoming “Lookdown Moon” LP — from the eccentric, Geraldine Fibbers-esque “Plastic Trumpet” to the hauntingly beautiful “Bowie Song.”

You can find Lookdown Moon performing live both locally and regionally in promotion of their LP, some shows featuring the full band and other shows they return to their roots and play as an acoustic duo. In addition to live shows, Ann and Jason continue to write new songs and incorporate the new material in their live sets for the enjoyment of the listeners!
