Born into the fairly rough an rugged streets of Pittsburgh, PA also known as the “Steel City” was Devon Michael A. Shives better addressed as Looney. Ever since the age of nine years old Looney has been crafting and developing his skill to make music. At... such an early age Looney started off singing participating in contests and talent shows. “I don’t kno one day I just turned on the opera and somehow after watching it over and over it taught me how to sing, and from that moment on until like twelve or thirteen years old that’s what I did”. Looney started joining in rap battles at lunch time in school and he began to realize that rapping might be his new talent, not only singing. Not too long from then Looney and his cousin Dre (D.E) decided to form a group together both developing their talents over time. “ I got the name Looney from when I was a youngin rapping about cartoons little stuff like (look dawg ill run in ya crib, da nine cum 2 ya face an make you stutter like porky pig]) lil silly stuff like that. That was a actualy punchline from like the age of 12. But I said alot a things like that until one day in da hood my friends and I were walking around and I was rapping and somebody just shouted out Looney; everybody stopped like what? then it clicked because Looney’ like Looney toons lol. Eventually it just stuck and thats me, all day”!!. At about fifteen years of age the two Pittsburgh natives came across a few other people who later became known as 3rd Infantry. “We were good together. Me, dre, an p.a.p rappin, and iceman producing. We were all young tho just messing around.” Looney released his first solo mixtape “Definition Of Crack Vol.1” at the age of sixteen, and the group has recorded an released a mixtape as well. After constant progression the group grew and later became a indie label known as Shutdwn Muzik in 2007. Ever since then Looney and his group have performed at a few local venues and plan on big moves for 2010. Looney just released a new mixtape “Prepare For Takeoff” hosted by DJ Capcom setting himself apart from other artist with a unique style and approach to the music industry.
