Bio
A fixture on the Cincinnati, Ohio music scene for nearly 3 decades, Ric Hickey has been heralded as one of the finest guitarists the city has ever produced. While Hickey's blazing electric guitar playing is frequently compared to the work of Adrian Belew, Angus Young, and Jimmy Page, his acoustic instrumentals slash and sparkle with a wholly unique approach that can only be compared to the legendary Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges. Hickey's acoustic vocal tunes cleverly blend Chicago Blues, New Orleans' Jazz, Kentucky Bluegrass, and the more traditional Country Western sounds of Nashville, TN and Austin, TX.
Ric is a prolific songwriter who has fronted several bands over the years including but not limited to the Speed Hickeys, Telegram Sam, and the Loose Wrecks. Currently he plays with Sparrow Bellows, a power trio that sounds like Cheap Trick crashed into The Replacements.
