Bio

James Catapano (December 1, 1982 -), also known as LordPhat, is an up and coming American Producer, Songwriter, and Recording Engineer rising out of the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, NY. He started producing music when he was a senior in High School, using various computer programs to find his own original signature sound. Every dime he made was invested into funding new equipment, such as: microphones, pre-amps, compressors, computers and the latest music-making software. After becoming proficient in mixing all types of music genres, James attended Kingsborough College; where he established a fundamental understanding of Music Theory and was introduced to World Music. After college, he attended the Institute of Audio Research (IAR), requiring him to take courses in Digital Music Production and Audio Electronics; learning the basics of Digital Audio, Ear Training, Acoustics, and much more. This only added to what he had already established in his knowledge of everything in audio, undoubtedly shaping and molding him into a master composer and music technician. He had won first place in the Audio for Picture Awards in IAR for Sound Design, Foley, Mixing, Mastering, and just pure Creativity. Earning a reputation within his school and his peers, James began to produce hundreds of records for individual artists, ranging from Underground Hip Hop to Rock and everything in between. Now being involved in the composition of music for almost a decade, James Catapano has established his own home recording studio, working with all types of genres, developing young talent, and creating a comfortable relationship between himself and the artist. Among those artists, he has worked with JR The Future on his highly anticipated "Dark Liquor On A Sunny Day" album; which is currently under review on the July 1st issue of XXL MAGAZINE.

XXL MAGAZINE has described LordPhat's production as "top-notch," reffering to him as "a rising producer out of Brooklyn,NY," respectfully labeling his sound as "Vintage" (In other words: Classic!)As he continues to impress indivuals and A&Rs of G-Unit Records and Ruff Ryderz, James is always looking for a new challenge to overcome. He currently works as the Head Engineer and Producer at the Drum Factory, a local studio located in Staten Island, NY. When asked about the secret to his success, LordPhat says: "The music industry is always evolving... and so do I."
