Lyrics

Dear John

Written By: Loren Murrell

Moonlight washes over a town...all the men come out.
Ladies watch yourselves when the men come out in this town!
Suntime -- scream at your neighbors! Oh! Oh! Oh!
"Heard something happen last night at the pharmacy"
"A Robbery?"
"Just up the street!"
I could physically walk there, so I walked there
but no one was around that could say they saw anything.
Maybe us being there was what was supposed to happen...
And it did happen.
Lady Jo and her love hid their love from the city.
There they walk hand in hand!
We were no bother to them.
Maybe us being there was what was supposed to happen...
And it did happen!
John had no plans as he came to the door
to discover... Lady Jo and her love!
He got his gun to shoot them both down!
These kinds of things happen in this town.
At this point I would say something to John,
trigger something in his head,
but overwhelming thoughts of killing Lady Jo rot his brain.
It's not worth the consequence
of dealing with the law in this town John,
but you knew that John,
so put your gun down!
Just up the street is a town I'd like to show you John.
You and I might fare better there than we do here John.
Although your Lady Jo is not here John
Oh, no, she's no longer your Lady Jo, John.
Maybe us being here was what was supposed to happen...
Maybe us being there was what was supposed to happen...
And it did happen!
