Little White Boy

Written By: Lori Grebe Cook

Little white boy, little white boy
rises to the tip of his toes
to drink from the colored water fountain - where no white man goes.

He thinks it will taste like colored crayons, black, blue, orange and green.
He thinks it will taste like colored crayons, different from the water he's seen.

What's the difference?
Oh mama please.
What's the difference?
It tastes the same to me.

Black men marching, black men marching - down a bubbling blacktop street.
Sweat is dripping stings their eyes, lashes bring them to their feet.
Little white boy, little white boy
leaning on a Barber's pole. Watching white men's faces scowling, like red hot coals.

What's the difference?
Oh mama please
What's the difference?
Is this the way it has to be?

Little white boy, little white boy
Now I'm six feet tall.
I'm a man, I'm not a boy and I
understand more now.

What's the difference?
Oh Mama please.
What's the difference?
We're all the same to me.

Little white boy, little white boy
rises to the tip of his toes.

Play It Again

Written By: Lori Grebe Cook

"Blue Suede Shoes" was my Daddy's favorite song,
drop the needle down, play it all night long.
Pull Mom off the couch, we'd dance around the room.
Felt like the song always ended too soon.

Play it again, play it again
These are the days we'll remember when,
we're driving down the highway, it's like seein' a long lost friend when you Play it again, play it again

Road trip radio cranked up high,
hands out the window
singing "Learning to Fly"
not a single word that we don't know
cross the Florida line, 2 hours to go

Play it again, play it again
we're driving down the highway, it's like seein' a long lost friend when you
play it again, play it again

Bridge:
I turn the radio up
I turn the radio up

Play it again, play it again,
these are the days we'll remember when
We're driving down the highway
it's like seeing along lost friend when you play it again, play it again

Concert seats, 3rd row on the right,
lighters overhead, like stars in the night
I pull you close lean in for a kiss
It doesn't get any better than this.

Play it again, play it again
these are the days we'll remember when we're driving down the highway it's like seeing a long lost friend when we play it again, oh play it again

Lie Detector

Written By: Lori Cook

I'm your lie detector, baby
I feel it in my bones.
you're not working late and you're not alone.
I'm your lie detector, baby
don't ask me how I know.
Your little lies, they lead me where I don't want to go.

It's the lipstick on your collar,
that doesn't match mine.
The new soap in the shower,
to leave her scent behind.
Our friends, they won't look me
in the eye.
I know why.

Bridge:
The more I'm searching
it's like pulling on loose thread
As we come unravelled as
you play these tricks with my head.

I lean over to hold you and you smile and say
"Honey, I love you" but it's been a long day,
Rollin' over, don't know where your mind's been . . .mmmmm - - - again.

I'm your lie detector, baby
I feel it in my bones
you're not working late and you're not alone.
I'm your lie detector, baby
don't ask me how I know.
Your little lies, they lead me where I don't want to go.

Your little lies they lead me where I don't want to go.
