Biography

Lori Grigsby has been singing since childhood. She got her first guitar at the age of sixteen and began writing songs and playing at the local college coffeehouse in Blacksburg, Va. Since then, she has played a variety of venues ranging from coffeehouses and clubs to benefits and festivals, and she has opened for a number of nationally known acts including Mark Isham, Michael Hedges, SONiA, and Tret Fure. She has composed music for television and has been involved in a number of musical collaborations that run the gamut stylistically from rock to new wave and performance art. She has participated in several showcases sponsored by the Songwriters Association of Washington, and was selected to play the Maryland Stage at the Susquehanna Music & Arts Festival in May 2007. Her acoustic self-titled CD was released in 2004, and she hopes to release another CD this summer. Sandy joined Lori on harmonies in 2006 and the response has been overwhelming. Their chemistry on stage is dynamic and their harmonies have been described as "haunting."

Lyrics

Speak the Names

Written By: Lori Grigsby

This is a song about the shooting at Virginia Tech. My first "live" gig took place at the coffee house on that campus when I was sixteen.... I was devastated when I heard the news... this song helped me heal, I hope it will help you too....

SPEAK THE NAMES....

the anger grows, then it explodes
so many razors on so many veins
one angry boy is all it takes
to wreak the vengeance
destroy the day

so many faces, so many names
hear the voices, feel the pain
ten thousand candles
ten thousand flames

speak the names
speak the names

now the day has past
but still it lasts
no easy answers
so much to explain
will we rise, or will we blame
anger reaps anger
wisdom brings change

so many faces, so many names
hear the voices, feel the pain
ten thousand candles
ten thousand flames

speak the names
speak the names

Lori - guitar, keyboard, lead vocal
Sandy - harmony vocals

Stay

Written By: Lori Grigsby

Recorded live at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta. Lori on guitar and lead vocals, Sandy singing those amazing harmonies....

STAY

I don't want to go outside
storms are raging, wars are raging
one foothold at a time,
we are chewing up the world
and all the racing, going nowhere
like a fire out of control
I am burned and I am battered,
wrap me up and pull me close...

can I stay here forever
can I stay here forever
can I stay here forever...
in your arms

I can't see the world today
all the faces, all th eyes
and the insecurities
competing personalities
and the looming expectations
ripping and pulling me
leaving gaping lacerations
leave me be and let me bleed

can I stay here forever
can I stay here forever
can I stay here forever...
in your arms

you... can feel me
you... can heal me
you recognize my face,
validate my place,
and renew my faith...

can I stay here forever
can I stay here forever
can I stay here forever...

can I stay here forever
can I stay here forever
can I stay here forever...

in your arms...

Set List

We try to concentrate on original material as much as we can, often playing venues that are listening rooms that are geared to singer songwriters. We love Falcon Ridge and our friend Annie Wenz encouraged us to submit for emerging artist this year, so here goes.
